Good morning, thanks for joining us for coverage of Alex de Minaur’s first-round clash with fellow Aussie Chris O’Connell. I’ll be taking you through all the action this morning.
De Minaur, who won the Washington Open title last month, reached the US Open quarter-finals last year while still recovering from a serious hip injury, but is fit this time and hunting his first major semi-final. It all starts here.

Australia’s Alexei Popyrin and Maya Joint have already joined Jordan Thompson, qualifier Priscilla Hon, Adam Walton and 15th seed Daria Kasatkina in the second round with wins in New York today.
But Wimbledon runner-up Amanda Anisimova was too good for Kim Birrell in a 6-3, 6-2 result.
Tristan Schoolkate is on court and a set up against Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego, while Ajla Tomljanovic has the mighty task of facing 2023 champion Coco Gauff in the first of the Arthur Ashe Stadium night matches.
