Beyonce and Blue Ivy’s blunder on stage at Cowboy Carter tour… but what happened next stunned fans

Beyonce and Blue Ivy suffered an awkward mishap on stage during a Chicago stop of the Cowboy Carter tour.

While performing the song Protector, Blue,  13, got her earring caught on Beyonce’s long blonde hair.

The mistake happened as Blue briefly rested her head on her mother.

When she tried to pull away, she realized that her jewelry had become completely tangled in Beyonce’s hair.

Trying not to panic, Blue attempted to separate her earring from the messy mane without disturbing Bey, who was in the middle of crooning along to the song.

She eventually managed to pull the difficult feat off, with her mom seemingly none the wiser to the potential debacle.

Fans on social media were quick to praise Blue’s professionalism, with many saying that she learned it from Beyonce.

‘The way Blue removed her earring, Beyoncé looking behind her to check, & blue confirming? THIS IS PROFESSIONALISM,’ gushed one.

‘Look at lil Mrs professional. I def would have yelled and been dramatic at that age,’ added another.

A third added, ‘She is really good, grown ups can learn a lot from her professionalism.’

Meanwhile, it looks like things are turning around for the Cowboy Carter tour.

After a rocky start that included sluggish ticket sales and technical difficulties, the Los Angeles leg of the tour earned Bey a record-setting $55.7 million from just five shows.

The Single Ladies hitmaker, 43, played five nights at L.A.’s SoFi Stadium, beginning April 28, with successive performances on May 1, 4, 7, and 9.

According to Billboard, she sold 217,000 tickets and now holds the biggest reported single-venue engagement of 2025 so far, surpassing Shakira and Coldplay.

It’s also the fifth-highest grossing tour stop in Boxscore history, behind two legs of U2’s Sphere residency in Las Vegas, Harry Styles’ 15 shows at Madison Square Garden in New York, and eight nights of UK boy band band Take That at Wembley Stadium in London.

For a female artist, it’s the highest-grossing reported single-venue engagement ever by a woman.

It’s a far cry from the weeks leading up to the Cowboy Carter tour, which initially had large sections of unsold seats – which is almost unheard of for a star of Beyonce’s calibre.

At one point, interest in the tour was so low that resale seats in the nosebleed section were going for as cheap as $20.
