Big Brother Australia‘s reboot is in full swing, with the first episode handing us a surprise twist (and the public some power) by introducing a 13th housemate. But who will it be? Jane or Mitch?

ICYMI, Big Brother Australia is officially back, BABY, returning to its OG parent, Network 10, and stomping ground, the Gold Coast’s Dreamworld.
And in true OG Big Brother Australia fashion, after we were introduced to the OG 12 housemates — which includes a certified mama’s boy, a primary school teacher, and a self-proclaimed “unicorn” — vibe wrangler Mel Tracina revealed that a 13th housemate will be added to the mix.
The catch? The public will be the one who gets to pick the 13th housemate.
The two options Australia had were Jane, a 67-year-old “sassy” and “feisty” granny who’s ready to cause some chaos, and Mitch, a 36-year-old bloke who lives and breathes nostalgia.
In the end, Australia picked: JANE!!!
Of course, with Australia making this choice, folks had a lot to say on X regarding Big Brother‘s 13th housemate.

But before Jane can officially secure her spot in the house, she has been handed a cheeky little hiding task.
The groovy grandmother MUST hide and not be caught by the other housemates for 90 seconds. If she completes the task, she will be safe from nominations. However, if the housemates find her within 90 seconds, she will be in danger of being evicted later this week.
Regardless of whether she passes this challenge or not, I feel like Australia will be rooting for this diva.
