Biker boots, slogan tees and adidas Originals defined Primavera fashion

Primavera Sound isn’t exactly the mud-laden, down and dirty, field festival that us Brits have come to know and love. First of all, there’s no camping – meaning everyone gets to shower as usual and no one has to get dressed lying down in a sweltering neon tent. The Spanish climate, which reached a gorgeous 27 degrees this year, meant there wasn’t a welly or raincoat in sight. Instead, your typical camper-clobber was replaced by bikinis, baby tees and hot pants.

Slogan t-shirts had a major presence at this year’s festival too, which took place over the weekend (June 5-8). A coral pink ‘Eurotrash’ tee was one of the most popular, meanwhile for Chappell Roan’s night (June 7), large groups of gay men wore white t-shirts that read: “I love Chappell Roan and sucking c*ck”. Of course, there was the neon green Brat contingent on Thursday evening ahead of Charli xcx’s headline set, whilst Barcelona-born designer Luis De Javier launched a new t-shirt at the festival, reading the word ‘Puta’ (the name of his debut streetwear collection) in a font that mimics Pacha Ibiza’s.

When it came to the footwear, for such warm temperatures there was a surprising amount of mid-calf leather boots – usually styled with a pair of loose adidas Originals shorts. In fact, this chunky boot plus three-stripe short pairing has become something of a summer staple in London, and now Barcelona too. The trend in itself is an oxymoron, pairing stomping, heavy-duty boots with lightweight sports shorts – perfect for marching around a festival, but less practical when it comes to running around a football pitch or basketball court.

Having partnered with Primavera for several years, the adidas presence went far beyond just shorts. Aside from all the chunky boots, an influx of Superstars could be spotted dashing between stages, or more likely, legging it up to the adidas viewing platform, which towered above the mainstage and provided the ideal escape away from packed crowds.

Full matching tracksuits also seemed to be making a return. Channelling David Beckham’s 2002 all-white diamonté adidas tracksuit, Primavera attendees weren’t afraid to match their zip-ups with their trackies. Sure, it might have got hot under there, but if you’re going to overheat at any concert, it may as well be Charli and Troye’s Sweat Tour, which closed night one (June 5) with a bang. Cowboy hats also don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, especially with the likes of Midwest Princess Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter and Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter dominating stages around the world.

Festival season may only just be getting started, but Primavera 2025 certainly set the bar high, not only for its unmatched lineup, but for its laid-back, sporty-chic street style too.
