‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 Part 1 Trailer Highlights Cinderella Retelling As Benedict’s “Rake” Meets “The Most Intriguing” Lady In Silver, Sophie Baek

Fresh as one of Lady Whistledown’s gossip sheets, a trailer for Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1 is now available for perusal.
The fourth season of Shondaland and Netflix’s television adaptation of Julia Quinn’s novels turns its focus to second son Benedict (Luke Thompson), who remains wary of settling down as many of his siblings have now done — that is, until a Lady in Silver captures his heart at his mother’s masquerade ball. Season 4 follows the love story in Quinn’s An Offer From A Gentleman.
The clip opens with Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) visiting Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) at the opening of a new debutante season, outlining her next pamphlet before Her Majesty.
“You must begin the proper way!” Charlotte tells Penelope as Lady Danbury (Adjoah Andoh) eyes her frantically and Penelope realizes she must open with the crystallized first line, “Dearest Gentle Reader.”

As Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews) narrates, Benedict “must bow to that most powerful of forces, mothers.” Ruth Gemmel’s Lady Violet Bridgerton tells Benedict that he must marry this season, he just simply has not found the right person yet.
“I am charting an adventuresome course!” the bohemian bachelor tells Penelope and his sister Eloise (Claudie Jessie), who immediately fire back in unison: “You’re a rake.”

Cut to Yerin Ha’s Sophie Baek, the illegitimate daughter of the Earl of Penwood, fawning over the idea of attending a ball. Her reverence for the event is highly contrasted when Rosamind Li (Michelle Mao) complains of being on her feet all night before she, her sister Posy (Isabella Wei) and their mother Araminta (Katie Leung), head to the buzzy event.

With the help of her serveant colleagues, Sophie manages to sneak into the ball and meet the one and only Benedict Bridgerton, who calls her “perhaps the most intriguing person I’ve ever met.” But when the clock strikes midnight, Sophie has to leave, and then she convinces herself that he doesn’t want to find her.
Also glimpsed in the trailer are Hannah Dodd as Francesca Bridgerton, Victor Alli as John Stirling, Daniel Francis as Marcs Anderson, Martins Imhangbe as Will Mondrich, Emma Naomi as Alice Mondrich, John the Footman, Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton and more. No sign of Jonathan Bailey’s Viscount Anthony, but he is expected to retrn as well.
Still more returning cast include Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Masali Baduza (Michaela Stirling), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton), Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich), Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton), Polly Walker (Portia Featherington) and Hugh Sachs (Brimsley).
