Britney Spears’ friends make morbid prediction about looming ‘last straw’ for troubled star… as son, 18, flaunts latest eyewatering gift

Britney Spear’s relationship with her son Jayden has left those close to her worried over his intentions, as the singer continues to shower the teen with gifts, including a luxe new Mercedes worth over $200,000.

Last year, the singer reunited with her sons Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden, 18, whom she shares with her ex Kevin Federline, two years after it was revealed that their relationship had become strained.

Since then, the Toxic singer, 43, has seemed to grow particularly close with Jayden, who returned to California in November while Sean Preston stayed in Hawaii, where the boys had been living with their father since 2023.

Now, it has been revealed that Spears gifted her youngest son a brand new, silver Mercedes SL 63 AMG+ upon his return.

In photos exclusively obtained by the Daily Mail, the former popstar was spotted accompanying the teen to the Mercedes-Benz Service Center in Los Angeles, California, earlier this week.

The 18-year-old, wearing a gray sweater and baggy jeans, arrived in his brand new car, while mom Spears, sporting a red brimmed hat and dark sunglasses, followed in her black Mercedes G-Wagon behind him.

While it appears Spears is attempting to mend the once-fractured relationship with her son, a source exclusively told the Daily Mail that her team is concerned aspiring musician Jayden may be taking advantage of his mom’s star power.

‘Britney’s team is definitely worried about her relationship with Jayden because everybody is wary that he is using her for financial gains and for his career,’ they said. ‘The fear is this could hurt her and be the last straw for her.’

After his outing with Spears, Jayden was then spotted taking his new car for a joyride – this time, with a mystery woman in the passenger seat. 

The pair, both wearing white sneakers, jeans and white tops, were photographed on Tuesday at the upscale Calabasas grocer Erewhon toting brown-paper grocery bags.

But, while Jayden is growing closer to Spears in recent months, his brother Sean is still hesitant, our source said.

‘Sean still takes the same stance he always has with his mom which is guarded and at an arm’s length because he does not want in the industry,’ they said. 

A second insider told the Daily Mail that spending time with Jayden has been ‘very special’ and ‘incredibly healing’ for Spears, and she hopes to do the same with Sean.

‘With Sean, there is still some room for improvement, but this is a time of reconciliation,’ the insider said.

‘Both boys are welcome to visit and stay with Britney any time they want. Britney has needed some mom time, and she would love to be with her kids all summer and make up for lost time.’ 

Federline, 47, was granted custody of the two boys in 2008 after he and Spears divorced the year prior. The blonde beauty struggled with a public breakdown soon after, and was placed under a restrictive conservatorship the following year. 

In an exclusive interview for ITV in 2022, Federline revealed that Spears had not seen her sons for nearly six months. 

‘The boys have decided they are not seeing her right now,’ he said. ‘It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her.’ 

Jayden also broke his silence about their fractured relationship at the time, claiming that while there was ‘no hate’ between him and his mother, it would take work to get back to a good place.

‘I 100 percent think this can be fixed. It’s just going to take a lot of time and effort,’ he said.

‘I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better I really want to see her again.’

In August 2023, Sean Preston and Jayden moved to the island of Oahu in Hawaii with their dad, his wife of 10 years, Victoria Prince, and their two daughters.

Then, in June 2024, it was reported that Spears had reconciled with her boys after visiting them in their new home.

At the time, it was said that her older brother, Bryan Spears, was behind the long-awaited reunion.

Concern over Spears’ relationship with Jayden first arose in November after it was reported that he was ‘back in California,’ while Sean Preston remained in Hawaii.

At the time, a separate source told the Daily Mail that Spears’ friends were questioning Jayden’s timing, as was announced that her child support payments to Federline were ending when he turned 18.

‘He reached out to Britney, saying he missed her and felt she had shown she was doing better,’ the insider said at the time. ‘Everyone around her is cautiously optimistic.’ 

Court documents showed that since 2007, Federline had received $240,000 per year for the care of Jayden and Sean Preston until 2017 – and then, according to sources, that amount was increased by court order to $480,000 per year. 

Over 17 years she paid more than an estimated $5 million, but the payments ended after Jayden’s 18th birthday in September.

The source also claimed last year that Jayden was ‘determined to break into the music industry,’ and that he and his mom had connected over their shared love of music. 

‘Britney is ready to give him every advantage,’ the source continued. ‘She believes he’s incredibly talented, and she takes full credit for his musical abilities.’
