Brittany Mahomes praises husband Patrick for rare romantic gesture as couple stun at friend’s wedding

Patrick Mahomes might be in the middle of his ACL rehab but the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is still making the most of the offseason.

His wife Brittany shared some loved-up pictures of the NFL power couple at a wedding on Saturday night and she was full of appreciation for her husband going above and beyond on their night out.

‘Two things that aren’t normal over here… I showed up very early and this guy actually took photos,’ Brittany wrote, sharing three of the snaps Patrick had taken of the childhood sweethearts together.

She captioned another image: ‘My baby forever.’ 

The couple are celebrating the wedding of their friends, Kate Van Wyk and Josh Parker. Earlier in the week, Mahomes shared a picture of her husband getting in the party spirit as he crushed a beer in a cowboy hat.

While Chiefs star Mahomes enjoys his downtime, he is also throwing everything at his rehab to be ready to get on the football field for the first week of September.

The couple have been enjoying some downtime at a wedding over the weekend

Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported this week that Mahomes is already way ahead of schedule and perhaps could be ready for the start of the season.

‘His pain threshold is different, his work ethic is different,’ Glazer said on the ‘Dan Patrick Show.’

‘So at first they were like, “Oh, you know, start of the season.” I would probably hedge on him being [back] sooner than that. By far. Because he just attacks things.’ 

Mahomes tore his ACL in mid-December as Kansas City’s nightmare season hit a new low against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs lost the game, a result that meant they failed to make the postseason.

Since then, an urgent rebuilding process has begun. 

Mahomes restructured his contract to help the team fall under the salary cap and earlier in the week, the Chiefs traded popular cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams for a first round draft pick.

It means the Chiefs now posses two picks in the first round of next month’s draft – the ninth and 29th.

Jawaan Taylor was also let go by the organization to save another $20m against the cap.

Mahomes’ close friend Travis Kelce is also expected to play on for at least another year, with an announcement on the tight end’s future expected sooner than later.

The Chiefs have also been linked with Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker, with the running back going into free agency after helping the Seattle Seahawks win February’s Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.

Such a move would, without doubt, be a huge signal from the Chiefs and one Mahomes would welcome.
