Channel Seven star accused of serious crimes against a child in long-running court case is FINALLY revealed as court gag order is lifted

Claudean Uamaki-Mu, who appeared on a reality TV show alongside her husband Anthony, has been revealed as the star accused of serious crimes against a child.

The Queenslanders, who appeared on the 2023 season of My Kitchen Rules, had been protected by a court suppression order.

But the restriction was lifted during plea proceedings on Wednesday at Richlands Magistrates Court in Brisbane’s outer south-west.

Mrs Uamaki-Mu has entered guilty pleas to six historical common assault offences, with other charges dropped.

The court heard that the former reality contestant had kicked, hit and spat on a child.

She is facing 12 other charges, including rape, and will stand trial in a district court at a future date.

Other charges against her have been dropped, including torture.

Mrs Uamaki-Mu was sentenced to a $1,000, 12 month good behavior bond with no convictions recorded.

Her husband, Mr Mu was due to be sentenced on 11 summary offenses, after more serious charges against him were dropped.

Matters relating to Mr Mu are still ongoing with proceedings adjourned to next month on May 9.

The couple appeared on My Kitchen Rules back in 2023, with their time on the show cut short after they were charged with serious offences.

Mrs Uamaki-Mu and Mr Mu called themselves the ‘Married Battlers’ on the Channel Seven cooking show.

In 2023, Mrs Uamaki-Mu was granted a non-publication order protecting her identity.

Magistrate Aaron Simpson concluded she was at risk of harming herself if media coverage identified her.

Queensland legislation previously prevented people charged with a ‘prescribed sexual offence’ from being identified by media outlets.

These offences include rape, attempted rape, assault with intent to commit rape, and sexual assault.

In 2023, Queensland lifted the prohibition on publicly naming individuals charged with aforementioned offences.

Mr Simpson’s ruling preventing media from identifying Mrs Uamaki-Mu was one of the first non-publication orders implemented after the state’s new sexual offence identification laws were introduced.
