Chiefs security in tense clash with Prime broadcast crew following Travis Kelce’s possible Arrowhead farewell

A Prime Video broadcaster was blocked from following Travis Kelce toward the locker room after what could be his final game at Arrowhead.

In a tense moment – caught on film on Christmas Day – Kansas City Chiefs’ senior director of team security, Brian Shafar, stood in the way of the camera and said: ‘I’ve told you!’

Kelce could then be seen wandering into the distance with his teammates following their 20-13 loss to the Denver Broncos.

It was Kansas City’s last home game of the 2025 campaign and the 36-year-old’s future beyond this season is uncertain.

Taylor Swift was among the fans who flocked to Arrowhead, with Kelce paying an touching farewell to the crowd following the game.

The legendary tight end did not rule out retirement, insisting he would ‘let that be a decision I’ll make with my family, friends, the Chiefs organization when the time comes.’

But emotions ran high at Arrowhead on Christmas Day. After leaving the field, Kelce was filmed headed up the hallway towards the Chiefs locker room.

But Prime Video cameras were then abruptly stopped from following him any further as Shafar intervened. The security chief was backed up by another Kansas City staffer.

In another clip, from immediately after the game, Shafar could be seen pushing two camera crew out of the way of head coach Andy Reid.

Earlier Kelce had five catches for just  36 yards against the Broncos while Swift and injured quarterback Patrick Mahomes watched on from the stands.

After what would have been a huge upset of the Broncos, the tight end admitted he was going through ‘a whole lot of emotions.’

Kelce explained: ‘You’ve got everybody in the world watching you. You get to go out there with the young guys on prime-time television. Young guys getting an opportunity to taste what this NFL life is like.’

He continued: ‘You only get a few of those [occasions] where you get to stand there and appreciate [60,000], 70,000 Chiefs fans cheering for you… I always embrace that moment.’

The tight end said he would ‘cherish forever’ the ‘generations of happiness and the love that [the fans] have.’

He explained: ‘It’s a beautiful thing, man… whether it’s coming out of the tunnel or just making a big play for them. That’s why we love Arrowhead.’

The Chiefs will close out the 2025 campaign against the Las Vegas Raiders on January 4. Ahead of the Christmas Day game, Kelce sat down with fellow Kansas City legend Tony Gonzalez to address his possible exit from the NFL.

‘I think I’m still searching for those answers,’ Kelce said when pressed on his looming decision. ‘Obviously the way this one ended with a sour taste in my mouth. I feel motivated but I’ve got to make the right decision for myself.’

However, the three-time Super Bowl winner didn’t fully close the door on the possibility of returning for one more season.

‘Just the fact that when I know it’s over, it’s over,’ he added when Gonzalez questioned what he would be returning for.

‘I still have a lot of love for this game. If I came back it would be just to answer that flame in my heart for this thing.’

Kelce continued: ‘If it was just Sundays, I think I could play until I’m 50 but obviously there is so much that goes into it.’
