Dallas Cowboys agree huge trade for rival’s defensive captain just hours before the NFL deadline

The Dallas Cowboys are finalizing a trade to acquire the Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive captain Logan Wilson just hours ahead of the NFL deadline.

The news comes after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones teased the possibility of some late moves in Dallas, and that has now come to fruition.

NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport report that the linebacker is heading straight to Dallas, but it is unclear what Cincinnati will receive in return.

Wilson recently requested a trade away from the Bengals amid a decrease in snaps, with Barrett Carter taking over as the starter.

Coincidentally, Wilson is nicknamed ‘the Cowboy’ due to his Wyoming roots, and his time playing for the University of Wyoming.

Wilson has, to date, played his entire NFL career with the Bengals, being drafted No 65 overall by the team back in 2020.

He was the team’s leading tackler from 2021 to 2023, and still finished the 2024 season with 104 tackles despite missing the last six games through injury.

Wilson also has 11 interceptions over the past five-and-a-half seasons, a league best among middle linebackers.

In 2023, he signed a four-year, $36million contract extension with the Bengals, and Dallas will now take on the final year-and-a-half of that deal.
