Deborra-Lee Furness Sparks Dancing With The Stars Rumours

Some fans are convinced Deborra-Lee Furness is joining the next season of Dancing With The Stars [DWTS] after spotting her recent activity on social media.

The Aussie actress, who recently finalised her much-publicised divorce from Hugh Jackman, was caught looking rather enthused about the competition show on Instagram when commending current DWTS castmate Rebecca Gibney.

ICYMI, The Packed to the Rafters star — who is competing on the 2025 instalment of DWTS alongside the likes of Harry Garside, Osher Günsberg and Shaun Micallef — took to Instagram on Friday to share an image of herself on the dance floor with partner Ian Waite

“Friday fierce,” Gibney captioned the pic of her busting out a move. “Had so much fun learning this one with my brilliant funny glorious teacher”.

Flocking to the comments, Furness (rightfully) reiterated Gibney’s fierceness while also fuelling speculation that her support might signal her own spot on the show’s next season, which is slated for 2026.

“Fierce is right. I ain’t messing with that woman,” Furness wrote, to which Gibney replied “you can mess with me anytime”.

While it’s far from any official confirmation of her actually joining the DWTS cast, the rumours were further fuelled by an industry source, who told New Idea on Friday that bagging Furness for next year’s season would guarantee an “absolute” ratings hit.

“A show like Dancing with the Stars would be perfect for [Furness],” the source claimed.

“There’s so much buzz around Deb at the moment that getting her on any show would be like winning the lottery.”

As for the source of the buzz the insider speaks of… well, where do I begin?

Furness has been making headlines for the better part of this year, courtesy of her messy break up with Jackman and his even messier entanglement with fellow Broadway star Sutton Foster

As a quick refresher, the fallout from their separation, which was announced back in 2023, has come to include scathing public statements, apparent Instagram shade on both sides, potential run-ins at the Met Gala, and… make out sessions in a fast food drive-through?

After all that, it might be nice to see Furness shake it all off on the DWTS stage, but let’s just hope she doesn’t have to dance to any songs from The Music Man.
