Dodgers make huge Shohei Ohtani announcement

Shohei Ohtani will be the starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the San Diego Padres on Monday night, the team has announced.

The two-way phenom has not pitched in a MLB game for close to two years after undergoing Tommy John surgery back in September 2023.

Yet following what has been an extremely long road to recovery, he will finally make his return to the mound when the Padres visit Dodger Stadium for the first of their three-game series.

Ohtani’s ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) was repaired for a second time while he was still playing for city rivals the LA Angels two years ago.

The procedure was performed by renowned sports surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said would determine the timeline of his comeback in conjunction with the team’s training staff.

More to follow.
