England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt returns home from training camp for family reasons

England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has returned home from an intra-squad training series in South Africa due to family reasons.

The 33-year-old is expected to miss the remainder of the tour, which was billed as key practice for this summer’s T20 World Cup.

Two full squads travelled to South Africa for the five-match series, with players split between two teams.

All-rounder Sciver-Brunt was captaining ‘Team Brittin’, coached by former Durham batter Jon Lewis.

England’s vice-captain Charlie Dean is skippering ‘Team Heyhoe Flint’. The squad includes former captain Heather Knight and has England assistant Luke Williams as coach.

“Nat Sciver-Brunt has returned home from South Africa for family reasons,” read a statement from England Cricket.

“It is expected she’ll play no further part in the tour.”

England’s training camp was originally planned to take place in the UAE before being been moved to Pretoria because of the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
