Everton vs Southampton – Premier League: Live score and updates as David Moyes names final team to play at Goodison Park

2790 games down, one to go.

The time has finally come. After 133 years, Everton men’s team will play inside their beloved Goodison Park for the final time.

Evertonians live and breathe football, and this has been their chapel since 1892. It’s their place of worship – one of the best around.

Today is one of those days when the game being played is pretty irrelevant. While the Toffees take on already-relegated Southampton for 90 minutes, most of the focus will be on what’s going on in the stands, outside the ground, in pubs nearby. Anything but the games, essentially.

I’m telling you now, it’s going to be emotional. The tears are going to be flowing among Blues all over the world when the final curtain comes down at its magical ground.

So, get your handkerchiefs at the ready.

It’s already been popping off outside the ground in the lead-up to kick-off. Flares are everywhere you look, and thousands upon thousands of Toffees are lining the streets.

It’s going to be one hell of a day.
