Ex-Astronomer CPO Kristin Cabot Has Broken Her Silence After Viral Coldplay Kiss Cam
There were countless celebrity engagements, breakups and relationship announcements this year, but nothing quite broke the internet like when two Astronomer employees were caught canoodling on the kiss cam at a Coldplay concert.
During the band’s Massachusetts show on July 16, the couple were shown embracing on the big screen. Things took a turn when they realised they were on camera and quickly separated and hid their faces, prompting Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin to speculate that “either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy”.
Well, it was soon revealed to be the former. After the incident went viral on TikTok, the pair were identified as Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and CPO Kristin Cabot, who were definitely not a couple and have both since left their positions at the tech company.

Now, as if hoping to leave the entire scandal behind in 2025, Cabot has broken her silence on the accidental hard launch that was seen around the world.
The former HR professional — who shares two teenage children with her first husband and was going through a divorce with her second husband when #Coldplaygate went down — told The New York Times that she was not in a sexual relationship with Byron and they had never even kissed before that night.
“I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons [hard seltzers] and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss. And I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay,” she said.
“I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up, but you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them.”
Kristin Cabot slams Gwyneth Paltrow
In a separate interview that came out this week, Cabot also called out Gwyneth Paltrow, the ex-wife of Chris Martin, after she appeared in a tongue-in-cheek video as Astronomer’s “temporary spokesperson”.
“I was such a fan of her company, which seemed to be about uplifting women. And then she did this,” she told The Times in the UK. “I thought, ‘How dare she after the beating she got for all the conscious uncoupling stuff’. What a hypocrite.”
She added that she was so appalled by the commercial that she threw out everything she owned from Paltrow’s wellness brand Goop in protest.

Byron reportedly declined to comment in the New York Times article and he’s since been seen publicly with his wife and wearing his wedding ring. Clearly, he’s trying to let the scandal simply fade away.
