Exclusive Interview with Egyptian Football Star Mohamed Arou: A Journey of Passion, Perseverance, and Professionalism

Cairo: Hani Kamal El-Din

In an exclusive sit-down with rising Egyptian football talent Mohamed Arou, currently playing for Al-Wasl FC in the United Arab Emirates, we explored the remarkable path that shaped his career—from his humble beginnings in Egypt to his international stints and aspirations for the future.

**Early Beginnings and Football Roots**

Born with a passion for football, Mohamed Arou took his first steps in the game at just six years old. His journey began under the guidance of Captain Mohamed Morsi, but it was his uncle, Captain Hisham Mostafa Amin—one of Ismaily SC’s most loyal supporters—who played a pivotal role in nurturing his talent early on.

Arou enrolled in Ismaily SC’s football academy, where he trained under legendary figures such as Captain Ali Abu Greisha, Captain Mahmoud Hassan, and Captain Sayed Bazouka. After being selected for the academy’s youth squad, he spent three crucial years developing his game under the mentorship of Captain Fikry El-Kebir and Captain Yehia.

His time with Ismaily SC lasted until he was 18, after which he was promoted to the senior team as one of five standout youth players chosen for first-team integration.

**A Domestic Journey Across Top Egyptian Clubs**

His growing reputation caught the attention of Captain Ahmed Said—former Canal Club player and coach—who brought Arou on loan to Ismailia Electricity Club for two seasons. His breakthrough performances there led to a signing with Al-Masry Club in Port Said under the leadership of the experienced Coach Mokhtar Mokhtar.

At Al-Masry, Arou shone brightly, finishing the season as the club’s top scorer. He then joined Assiut Petroleum following their promotion to the Egyptian Premier League. His journey came full circle with a return to Ismaily SC, this time under the coaching of Captain Saafan El-Saghir. After a solid season, he made another domestic move, this time to Alexandria’s iconic Al-Ittihad Club.

**Venturing Abroad: The International Chapter**

Arou’s international career began with a move to Iraqi giants Erbil SC, where he spent a competitive season before returning once again to his home club, Ismaily, working under coaches Captain Sabry El-Menyawi and Captain Ashraf Khodr.

Another chance at playing abroad soon arrived, and Arou seized the opportunity, joining UAE’s Fujairah FC. During his six-month tenure, he contributed significantly to the team’s promotion to the UAE First Division. He then signed with Ras Al Khaimah Club, where he played for a year and a half before earning a spot at UAE powerhouse Al-Wasl FC, where he currently plays.

**Career Highlights and Personal Reflections**

When asked about the most memorable moments in his career, Arou points to two: being promoted from the youth ranks to Ismaily’s first team and his ongoing professional journey with Al-Wasl.

As for his favorite goal, he recalls a friendly match between Al-Wasl and a visiting Brazilian team—an experience etched in his memory not just for the goal, but for the excitement and level of competition.

**Dream Teammates and Football Inspirations**

Among Egyptian players, Arou would have loved to share the pitch with midfield maestro Captain Mohamed Hommos and fan-favorite Mahmoud “Shikabala.” Internationally, he dreams of playing alongside legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Zlatan Ibrahimović.

**Advice to the Next Generation**

Arou’s message to aspiring footballers is simple yet powerful: *“Never give up. Keep renewing your ambition. Every setback is an opportunity to grow stronger.”*

**What’s Next for Mohamed Arou?**

When asked about the possibility of transferring to another club, Arou remains open: *“In the world of professional football, anything can happen. But if I could choose, I’d love to conclude my career at my home—Ismaily SC.”*

Currently, Arou is recovering from a medial ligament injury in his knee. He is in the final stages of rehabilitation and is eager to return to the pitch stronger than ever. He expressed deep gratitude to Al-Wasl FC for standing by him during his injury and providing full support throughout his recovery period.

**Acknowledgments and Gratitude**

Arou also took a moment to thank those who have supported him along the way. At the forefront is the Ismaily SC fan association, particularly Captain Hisham Mostafa Amin, whose encouragement has never wavered. He also expressed appreciation to:

* Hassan El-Soghayar
* Ali Zidan

Special thanks were extended to:

* Major General Ahmed Baraka
* Captain Mohamed Ashraf
