
Emergency services are responding to a major incident following reports of a powerful explosion at a residential building on Clarence Street in Lidcombe early this morning.
Shortly after 6.30am, a loud blast rocked the area, sending debris flying and prompting a full-scale emergency response.
Firefighters, paramedics, and police rushed to the scene, where part of the building was found to have partially collapsed. Multiple people are believed to be trapped inside.
Specialist rescue crews remain on site in a desperate effort to locate and free those still unaccounted for.
One male victim has been pulled from the rubble and transported to hospital in a serious condition.
