A fiery plane crash on a Massachusetts highway left two dead as the powerful Nor’easter storm continues to batter the East Coast.
Officials responded to Interstate 195 in Dartmouth around 8:15 a.m after a fixed wing airplane collided into a grassy median, according to Boston25.
At least two were reported dead after the plane may have been trying to land at New Bedford Regional Airport, Massachusetts State Police said.

Two killed in Massachusetts plane crash
Two people were killed in a fiery small plane crash along Interstate 195 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, WCVB reported.
Video showed the plane was ablaze along the median of the highway. A damaged car was also spotted, but it is unclear if the vehicle was involved in the plane crash.
State Police believe the plan may have been attempting to land at New Bedford Regional Airport around 8am when it crashed as the area was battered by wind and rain from the Nor’easter.
However, officials said that the pilot did not provide the airport with a flight plan or the number of people aboard the aircraft.
I-195 westbound is closed at exit 19, and there is a left lane closure on I-195 eastbound due to the crash.
Over 10,000 without power in Connecticut
In Connecticut, gusty winds and heavy rain has left 10,463 customers without power Monday morning.
Winds up to 47 mph were recorded in Bridgeport and Stamford early Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Boston and NYC airports hit with delays
Boston Logan International Airport and several New York City travel hubs are experiencing travel chaos amid the storm.
At LaGuardia Airport, the FAA issued a ground stop due to wind that is in effect until 11am ET.
Average ground delays are lasting 131 minutes due to the wind, while departure delays are reaching an hour long and increasing.
Boston Airport has had 21 delays and 21 cancelations so far today, while LaGuardia, JFK and Newark have had 113 delays total.

Delaware activates National Guard
The Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) announced the activation of the Delaware National Guard to assist with the storm on Sunday.
‘DEMA has been coordinating with state and local officials since Friday in preparation for impacts from the storm and is pre-positioning Guard assets for deployment as needed,’ the agency said.
‘With continued concern for moderate to major coastal flooding, and damaging winds, there remains the potential for storm and wind-related tree damage, power outages, and roadway flooding with the possibility for more local evacuations.’
The mayor of Bowers Beach issued a voluntary evacuation order for residents east of Whitwells Delight Road.
Reception centers are open in Kent and Sussex counties and shelter preparations underway.
North Carolina homes at risk of collapse
In North Carolina’s Outer Banks, ocean tides spread across Highway 12 near Buxton, according to the Dare County Sheriff’s Office.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation said crews were working to clear the highway that was closed on Ocracoke and Hatteras.
The waves were ferocious at the Hatteras Island town of Buxton, where several beachfront homes have fallen into the water in recent weeks.
One house was losing its pilings Sunday and appeared close to collapsing.

Remnants of typhoon hits Alaska
More than 30 people were rescued and three people remain unaccounted for after the remnants of Typhoon Halong hit western Alaska.
Rescue aircraft were sent to the tiny Alaskan villages of Kipnuk and Kwigillingok, where there were reports of people possibly unaccounted for, said Jeremy Zidek, spokesperson for the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
‘We have received reports that people’s homes have floated away and that people were potentially in those homes,’ Zidek told The Associated Press.
In Kwigillingok, at least 18 people were rescued and three people remained unaccounted for, Alaska State Troopers said in a social media post on Sunday evening.
In Kipnuk, at least 16 people were rescued and troopers had received secondhand reports of people who were unaccounted for. They were working with local officials to determine how many people were missing. Search efforts were expected to continue overnight as conditions allowed.
North Carolina highway closed
Portions of North Carolina Highway 12, the highway that serves the Outer Banks, have been shutdown due to the storm.
The highway from Marc Basnight Bridge to Rodanthe, as well as on Hatteras and Ocracoke, were shutdown, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
A coastal flood warning and high surf advisory was in effect for Hatteras Island through Monday morning.

Over 6,000 JCP&L and hundreds of PSE&G customers were without power as of 7am on Monday, according to NorthJersey.com.
Morris County was the hardest hit in North Jersey, with 2,778 JCP&L customers experiencing outages, most of which are in Mount Olive.

New York’ state of emergency declaration forced organizers of the city’s 81st annual Columbus Day Parade to cancel.
‘Due to the Governor’s declaration of a State of Emergency this evening in response to the dangerous weather conditions brought on by the Nor’easter, including high winds, heavy rain and flooding in surrounding areas, we must cancel the 81st Annual Columbus Day Parade for the safety of all participants and viewers,’ organizers told Fox 5.
NYC airports warned of major delays
The FAA warned that ground stops and delays could impact LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy and Newark airports today due to the severe weather.
LaGuardia could start to see the delays this morning, while JFK and Newark could start experiencing them as soon as 1pm.
Newark Liberty, LaGuardia and Kennedy saw 18 cancelled flights and more than 200 delays by late Sunday evening, according to FlightAware.

Over 40,000 homes across the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions are without power as of Monday morning, according to PowerOutage.Us.
In New Jersey, 13,467 customers are experiencing power outages, as well as 9,327 in Connecticut, 8,859 in New York and 4,278 in Massachusetts.

A powerful coastal storm with strong winds and potential flooding forecast has prompted a state of emergency to be declared in New York City as wild weather batters the US.
Coastal flood warnings have been put in place for Long Island, New York City and Southern Westchester County beginning 12pm Sunday through 8pm Monday.
The National Weather Service has also issued a high wind warning for much of Suffolk County, with a wind advisory in place for the rest of Long Island, New York City and Southern Westchester County.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for eight counties in southern New York and urged locals to prepare for flooding and power outages as the storm barrels toward the city.

A State of Emergency has been declared in New Jersey as a storm barrels up the East Coast.
The storm without a name is expected to bring flooding to the East Coast from South Carolina to New Jersey and high winds to New York City over the Columbus Day holiday weekend.
‘I urge all New Jerseyans to exercise caution, monitor local weather forecasts and warnings, stay informed on evacuation protocols, and remain off the roads unless absolutely necessary,’ acting New Jersey Governor Tahesha Way said in a statement.
