Far-right protester tries to BURN Quran in America’s most Muslim city as calls to bring ICE in sparks outrage

Tensions flared in America’s most Muslim city when a far-right protester tried to burn the Quran and called for President Trump to deploy ICE to the area.

Jake Lang, 29, a January 6 rioter who was pardoned by Trump and is now running as a Republican for a US Senate seat in Florida, he arrived in Dearborn, Michigan on Tuesday and tried to burn the Muslim holy book, MLive reports.

Video shared online showed he tried several times to ignite the book, holding it up with a lighter, but counter-protesters repeatedly knocked the Quran from his hand.

At one point, Lang also tapped the Quran with a slab of bacon – which is considered not halal – before a counter-protester snatched the book and ran off with it.

On social media, that protester identified himself as Abbas Abou Khadr.

‘What I did was my… moral duty,’ he wrote on Facebook.

‘There are things in life that can be overlooked… but when it comes to religion, belief and Quran… the matter becomes a red-line that cannot be ignored.’

‘Even if the act was done unintentionally or out of ignorance, standing against it is necessary, as long as it is done for the sake of God and in defense of our religion.’

In the hours that followed, Lang’s supporters and the counter-protesters shoved each other, as allegations that pepper spray was being deployed spread through the crowds and one man even apparently punched Lang, according to the Detroit Free Press.

But Lang did not back down, declaring at his protest: ‘There can be no room for sharia law.’

‘Today we mark America a Christian country,’ he claimed. ‘Today, we mark America a European Western civilization that the Muslims have no part in… This is our country.’

Lang, who wore a tactical vest for the occasion, also unfurled a banner reading: ‘Americans Against Islamification’ and made derogatory statements about Islam’s Prophet Mohammed as the counter protesters yelled back at him.

Meanwhile, Michigan gubernatorial candidate Anthony Hudson held a dueling protest he described as a ‘unity rally’ after he discovered that there is no sharia law in the city.

Hudson, 48, had originally planned to ‘expose Dearborn for what it is’ as he railed against what he saw as sharia law taking over the city.

‘Freedom of religion will not be misconstrued to oppress constitutional liberties,’ the trucker-turned-politician posted on November 3.

He said the event is also a way for him to help ‘protect Americans from Sharia law’ – the system that guides the lives of Muslims based on the Quran and teachings from the Prophet Muhammad.

But after spending several days in the Detroit suburb and visiting three mosques in the city, Hudson declared ‘that there are many false and misleading narratives about Dearborn being spread’ and said that ‘all he found from Muslims in Dearborn was hospitality.’

‘I got hugs, I got handshakes,’ he told the Free Press. ‘I had a lot of men come up to me and say it was nice to meet me… I just really got to engage with good people in the community.’

‘It was great to see, great to experience,’ the gubernatorial candidate continued.

He added that he ‘didn’t see women get assaulted or disrespected’ and instead saw ‘women business owners that were yelling at men, telling them what to do’ as well as ‘young women walking at night to go to the bars and they weren’t being harassed.

‘We saw the gentlemen’s clubs, which is against sharia law, we saw the liquor stores, which is against it,’ Hudson said

‘We just saw so many things that were against sharia law that I made the determination during my trip, my four days, there was no sharia law.’

Hudson also said he was opposed to outsiders coming to Dearborn with plans to burn the Quran.

As a result of Hudson’s moderate anti-Islam stance, Lang spray painted the word ‘cuck’ on what appeared to be Hudson’s campaign bus as he accused the Republican candidate of ‘selling out.’

As the night wound down, all three groups marched to City Hall for the city council meeting at 7pm as pro-Muslim liberal protesters chanted: ‘Dearborn has made it clear: Fascists are not welcome here.’

When the groups then settled in to city hall, a group of Dearborn residents yelled ‘Allahu akhbar’ at Lang, the Free Press reports.

Still, Lang got up to the lectern, where he called for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to raid the city.

‘Send ICE into Dearborn,’ he declared, claiming the Muslims in the city ‘have overstayed their visas’ and are ‘H1-B chain migration invaders’ who ‘have come to this country to destroy our way of life.’

Much of his three-minute speech included derogatory remarks aimed at Muslims as he denounced ‘the Islamification of America.’

‘The Muslim community is trying to drag us back,’ Lang claimed. ‘They’re trying to oppress women, oppress homosexuals. They’re looking to destroy everything that makes America great.’

He went on to claim that the Muslims who have immigrated to the United States are just ‘pretending to be Americans, wearing your suits – but that doesn’t happen anywhere else you guys are in charge.

‘There are 53 Muslim majority countries. In all of them, it’s tyranny, destruction, s***hole living. We have to call it what it is,’ Lang continued as his supporters cheered him on.

‘We don’t want you here,’ he claimed. ‘Respectfully, get the f**k out of my country.’

Lang also argued that America has ‘been taken over without a single shot fired’ as he claimed Muslims are ‘out breeding insidious parasites on the American way of life.’

‘You will never look like us, you will never eat like us, you will never build buildings like us,’ he said. ‘You are nothing, you can build nothing – just like resident Trump’s great American friends have said.

‘You are not us and get the f**k out,’ he concluded before being marched out by police officers. ‘America First. America only. God bless America, Jesus is king.’

Hudson, though, denounced Lang’s group as ‘anti-American,’ and Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud hit out at the protesters who had ‘hate in their hearts.’

‘The marchers tried to divide, but Dearborn did what Dearborn always does: We stand tall,’ the mayor said.

‘We are a city built by workers, by immigrants, by veterans and by families who believe in the promise of America.’

In the end, one person was arrested in the raucous demonstrations but no injuries were reported.
