Fed up Brisbane Broncos ERASE Gorden Tallis from history as bad blood between the Raging Bull and his former club deepens

The feud between the Brisbane Broncos and club legend Gorden Tallis has exploded to new heights, with the powerhouse club taking the extraordinary step of wiping the ‘Raging Bull’ from its own headquarters.

Tallis’ name has been removed from a meeting room at the Broncos’ Red Hill base and replaced with that of Ali Brigginshaw – a call that underlines just how toxic relations have become.

Once immortalised among Brisbane’s greats, Tallis has now been stripped from the club’s inner sanctum despite a glittering career that delivered three premierships and saw him captain Queensland and Australia.

Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy confirmed the change, positioning it as recognition of Brigginshaw’s impact.

‘Brisbane Broncos recognise the positive contributions and ongoing support of a number of club legends by way of naming various meeting rooms within the Clive Berghofer Centre,’ Donaghy told News Corp.

‘The naming of the Ali Brigginshaw meeting room recognises her outstanding contribution to the Broncos club since the inception of the NRLW program, including leading the Club to four NRLW Premierships.’

Former Brisbane Broncos star Gorden Tallis has repeatedly attacked his former club including lashing the decision to allow injured captain Adam Reynolds to fly to Sydney this week

But the decision comes against the backdrop of a long-running and increasingly bitter war of words driven largely by Tallis himself.

The outspoken former enforcer has spent months – and in truth, years – taking repeated shots at the club, with his criticism intensifying following the sacking of Kevin Walters and the appointment of coach Michael Maguire.

Tallis has openly questioned Maguire’s methods, cast doubt over the club’s culture, and repeatedly challenged the leadership group – including captain Adam Reynolds.

The latest flashpoint came in a fiery on-air clash with veteran journalist Peter Badel on NRL 360, a confrontation that quickly went viral among footy fans.

Tallis launched into Reynolds over his decision to fly to Sydney for Fox League duties just 24 hours after suffering a rib cartilage injury in the Broncos’ loss to Parramatta.

‘It’s the grand final replay and he’s your captain,’ Tallis said.

‘I will not dodge it, the first 24-28 hours are the most crucial for treating your injuries so maybe if he didn’t fly down here (Sydney) and treated himself at home and rested, then maybe he could have played.’

Badel pushed back immediately, citing medical advice that the flight would have had no impact on Reynolds’ recovery.

‘Well Gordie you’re actually wrong, and I’ll tell you why. I spoke with Madge and I spoke to a physio… flying is immaterial. It’s not a soft tissue injury.’

The exchange quickly escalated, with Tallis doubling down in typical fashion.

‘That’s what that jersey deserves and you can’t tell me any different… I wore it and you didn’t,’ he snapped.

‘Leaders, that is what they do … they play.’

Badel refused to back down, firing back by questioning the logic of risking Reynolds early in a long season and even referencing Tallis’ own playing history.

‘You picked and chose when you played. You sat out a whole season.’

The heated confrontation sparked a wave of reaction from fans, many of whom sided with Badel and criticised Tallis’ tone, with some accusing the Broncos legend of trying to bully the journalist and dismiss opinions from those who hadn’t played the game.

The clash was just the latest in a string of public attacks from Tallis, who has also suggested the Broncos would have achieved success without Maguire and has continually questioned key decisions at the club.

He has even shifted arguments mid-debate, first focusing on Reynolds’ travel before pivoting to the expectation that a captain should ‘play through pain’ regardless of circumstances.

Maguire himself has hit back, labelling Tallis’ criticism of Reynolds as ‘the biggest load of garbage’ and ‘laughable,’ insisting the club was managing its captain with a long-term view of the season.

Donaghy emailed the staff at their Red Hill base to advise them of the change, opting to praise Brigginshaw rather than further buy into the Tallis feud.

‘She has played a critical role in shaping both the current state future of women’s rugby league at the Broncos and nationally, in addition to her significant contribution in her role across our community programs,’ he wrote.

‘This recognition reflects our commitment to celebrating those who have made a lasting impact on the Broncos and aligns with our strategic focus on elevating all areas of the Club to world-class standards.

‘Ali joins a number of our club greats who are recognised by having rooms named after them, but again blazes a trail as the first female to receive such an honour.’
