Former F1 Star Daniel Ricciardo Taken To Hospital After Bike Crash

Former F1 golden boy Daniel Ricciardo has reportedly been rushed to hospital after a dirt bike accident in North Queensland.

According to Planet F1, the 36-year-old suffered a collarbone injury after coming off his bike during a ride through the Daintree National Forest. He was promptly taken to Mossman Hospital in Queensland, where he was treated for his injuries.

While no further details surrounding the accident or injury have been made public, the eight-time Grand Prix winner was reportedly in good spirits despite his injury.

After years of travelling the world with his sport, Ricciardo has been back in Australia. Most recently, he made his first public appearance post-F1 by participating in a Q&A at the Ray White Connect Conference. During the chat, he dished about what his life has been like after F1.

“Well, I haven’t been shaving my face. The beard is my comfort right now,” he joked.

“This year has been a bit of self-exploration. I lived this crazy high-speed life for so long, and this year I’ve sat into a little bit of stillness. I’ve had a lot of time, and I’ve done some hiking. I was in Alaska a few weeks ago and didn’t get mauled by a grizzly, which was a bonus.“

Ricciardo kicked off his F1 career in 2011. He thrived in the sport, claiming eight Grand Prix wins, before losing his seat in 2024. While Ricciardo was always a beloved figure in the F1 world — especially with Australians — he netted a whole new host of fans after starring in the Netflix documentary series Drive To Survive in 2019.
