Furious Celtic fans launch protest against board following shocking Old Firm defeat by Rangers which has left Wilfried Nancy on brink of the sack – despite joining club just ONE MONTH ago

Furious Celtic supporters have protested against the club’s board outside Celtic Park following their 3-1 home defeat by Rangers in the Old Firm derby.

Celtic had led the 1-0 at half-time with Yang Hyun-Jun having given the hosts the lead.

Rangers stormed back against their arch-rivals in the second half with Youssef Chermiti scoring a second half brace to turn the match around.

Mikey Moore scored a third for Rangers to clinch derby victory and condemn Wilfried Nancy’s to another defeat.

The Frenchman has now lost six of his eight matches in charge of the Scottish giants, a string of results that have led to calls for his dismissal just a month after joining the club.

Fans had turned their frustrations to the Celtic in the closing stages of the match, with supporters heard chanting ‘sack the board’ after gathering outside the stadium post-match.

Further chants of ‘the Celtic board, they’ve go to go’ were also heard outside the stadium.

Rangers victory at Celtic Park saw them move level with their rivals in the Scottish Premiership table, with the clubs both trailing leaders Hearts.

The two clubs have had tumultuous campaigns to date, with Rangers having recovered from a disastrous start to the season which led to the dismissal of Russell Martin and the appointment of Danny Rohl.

Celtic began the campaign with Brendan Rodgers in charge, before he resigned in October.

Martin O’Neill had overseen a Celtic revival during an interim spell in charge of the club, but the Scottish giants have endured a torrid run since appointing Nancy just one month ago.

Nancy had given a seven-minute answer defending his tenure to date at a pre-match press conference.

Following the latest defeat, Nancy admitted he could understand the supporters’ frustrations but insisted the club needs to remain together.

‘This is not about myself, this is about disappointing the fans because I know the meaning of this game,’ Nancy told the BBC. ‘They pushed us in a good way in the first half, they were behind us but when we conceded goals we wanted to push again.

‘I can understand the disappointment but I also saw what we’re able to do. It’s totally normal that they’re disappointed.

‘This is reality but we have to stay together. We are really close, there are many things that can turn around.

‘If it was not the case I would not talk like this. We have many things that we are really close but this is not enough regarding a few details. I really believe we can turn things around.

‘We are together with the board.’
