Glamorous NHL reporter suffers humiliating face plant in front of Rangers players

As one of the more public-facing jobs in sports, mistakes and mishaps from reporters are seen with a higher frequency than others. Unfortunately for one rink side reporter, a faceplant got shown across the country.

Sportsnet reporter Anna Dua took an unlucky spill while running in the bowels of Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

Worse for her, not only was this caught on a hallway camera, she says this happened in front of the entire New York Rangers team as they warmed up prior to their game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Colleague and SN host David Amber poked fun at Dua after she gave a pre-game injury report live on the network’s air, saying, ‘I thought you were going to mention your injury, didn’t you wipe out 20 minutes ago?’

Dua slumped her head, admitted the accident happened, and said ‘Once we get the footage of that, maybe we’ll be able to show the fans at home that as well.’

She did, in fact, find some footage of the spill and posted it and Amber’s joke to her social media account.

Dua has been in the business for a while now after graduating with a bachelors in sports media from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in 2021.

Prior to that, the Canadian-American dual citizen parlayed her ice hockey playing background to briefly become a coach in the academy system for the Washington Capitals.

Dua also worked in gameday operations for the Maple Leafs before serving as an NHL contributor to NBC Sports back when the network had rights to cover the league.

She then worked for the league itself as a sports host and reporter before returning to her native Canada for her current role in 2024.
