Good Morning America’s Sam Champion has left fans relieved after he shared an update from his hospital bed.
On Sunday, the 64-year-old weatherman revealed he underwent an emergency heart procedure in New York following a sudden health scare.
Luckily, Champion explained he expected to make a ‘full recovery’ as he smiled and waved at the camera for a photo which was shared on Instagram.
Taking a moment to thank his doctors, he said: ‘Thank you Dr. Stam Lerakis and Dr. Sharma and the WONDERFUL team of nurses at Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital!
‘Many of you know I had a nuclear stress test last Thursday. And we found some things that needed to be taken care of, so today I went into the cardiac catheterization laboratory… and we took care of it.
‘Thanks to these procedures, I am well and expected to make a full recovery.’
Naturally, Champion’s followers were relieved to hear the update.
Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts wrote: ‘You know I am here if you need anything at all! Speedy recovery on the way!’

Today Show’s Al Roker said: ‘Sam the Man. Glad you are on the mend, my friend.’
Champion has suffered health problems in the past.
In 2024, the GMA star underwent skin cancer surgery which left him with a large scar under his right eye.
At the time, doctors diagnosed him with a nodular basal cell carcinoma.
Champion underwent surgery on his right cheek to remove the cancerous spot.
His surgeon also performed laser surgery to target darker, precancerous skin around his face.
Champion said the cancer operation was not his first bout with skin cancer after previously being diagnosed in his 20s. He blamed years of tanning and sunbathing.
‘When I’m not bringing you the weather, I love nothing more than being outside,’ he said in a clip shared on the program.

‘I don’t even have any way of counting how many times I had blistering sunburn.’
Nowadays, Champion is much more careful when it comes to sun exposure.
‘When I’m in a beach chair, I have an umbrella, and I have my sunscreen,’ he said in a clip posted to his social media account.
‘I don’t think legitimate sunbathing – where you lie in the sun like a lizard – has been a part of my recent past and it won’t be a part of my close-to future, either.’
