Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has become the most expensive overseas player ever purchased at an Indian Premier League auction.
Green, 26, was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders at the 2026 IPL auction on Tuesday night (AEDT) for INR 25.20 crore.
It equates to an eyewatering AUD$4.17 million.

However, he will only receive $3 million because INR 18 crore is the maximum amount overseas players are allowed to earn, with any additional money going into the BCCI's player welfare pool.
Six Australians were sold at the auction in Green, Matthew Short, Josh Inglis, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis and Jack Edwards.

Green became the third-most expensive player in IPL history, behind India's Rishabh Pant (INR 27 crore) and Shreyas Iyer (INR 26.75 crore).
Prior to Green being sold for INR 25.20 crore on Tuesday night, Test teammate Mitchell Starc (INR 24.75 crore) was the most expensive overseas player in history.
"He'll be buying the drinks in Adelaide," Fox Cricket commentator Brendon Julian said jokingly, reacting to the news on Tuesday night's Big Bash League broadcast.
"Wow. That is massive."
Green will play for Australia at Adelaide Oval in the third Ashes Test, beginning on Wednesday.
Kolkata Knight Riders are his third IPL team, after he played for Mumbai Indians in 2023 and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024.
Of the other Australians, Inglis was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for $1.4 million, Edwards to Sunrisers Hyderabad for $497,000, Connolly and Dwarshius to Punjab Kings for $331,000 and $166,000 respectively, and Short to Chennai Super Kings for $249,000.
Edwards and Connolly, who play in the Big Bash League for the Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers respectively, earned their first IPL contracts.
Among the Australians who went unsold were Steve Smith, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Sean Abbott and Riley Meredith.
