An insider has claimed *that* photo drama from Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party is responsible for news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s publicist has resigned.
Meredith Maines, who served as the former royal couple’s chief communications officer since January, was revealed to be departing the role over the weekend.
Some insiders have claimed Meredith, who was Harry and Meghan’s 11th publicist overall, resigned just before Christmas, but is staying on until the end of the year to ease the transition.
As for the reason behind Meredith’s exit, well, one source said last month’s photo scandal involving the couple and the Kardashians was “the final straw” that led to the resignation.
ICYMI, the former royals were swept up in controversy with the KarJenner clan in early November when Kim Kardashian shared Instagram pics of Harry and Meghan attending Kris’ 70th birthday bash, which was hosted at billionaire Jeff Bezos’ home.
After Kim suspiciously deleted the photos, it was reported that Harry and Meghan had requested that the Kardashians remove the pics for fear of being labelled “tacky” for attending the star-studded event by the pair’s royal family back in England.
Insiders then claimed the Kardashian team was “getting annoyed” with the couple’s reaction to the pics, saying they were “overshadowing” Kris’ big day.
While the official reason for Maines’ resignation has not yet been revealed by Harry and Meghan themselves, a source reckons her departure was the culmination of the photo saga, which she was forced to bear the brunt of when reports of the tit-for-tat with the Kardashians began circulating.
Still, we don’t know for sure whether photo-gate was solely responsible for Maines finishing up her role, and sources of this nature should be taken with a grain (or bucketload) of salt.
Whatever the case may be, I wonder whether Meghan will take a page from Kim’s book and rock up to the next event covered in a face mask? That’s one way to avoid being ID’d!
