The Hollywood Hawks have put on a spectacular first act for their fans at the MCG, blitzing the Bombers in a powerful first quarter.
The Hawks are lightning-quick, and move the ball rapidly as well through their high skill level.
The Bombers don’t have the speed or the nous to keep up, especially once the ball gets into motion on the rebound.
Karl Amon has caught the eye. His kick to land the ball on a sixpence to Nick Watson inside 50 was sublime. Essendon’s advantage has been at the stoppages, winning the clearance count 17-5, but they haven’t fired a shot after that.
There is one salvation for the Dons. Richmond were in a similar pickle at quarter-time last night – and we know how they played out.
