High-flying doctor to LA stars Khloe Kardashian and Hailey Bieber reveals her new calling in life

Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, an OB-GYN to some of Hollywood’s most elite stars like Khloe Kardashian and Hailey Bieber, has established her new calling in life – and it may take you by surprise.

The celebrity doctor has now become the co-host of a popular weekly podcast called She MD, which has made it to the list of top 20 podcasts in the health and fitness category in the U.S.

Her care has now taken over the airwaves, as she’s featured high-profile celebrities like Sofia Richie, Kim Kardashian, and Molly Sims on her show, where they’ve opened up about their own health issues.

Her show goes deep into various women’s health problems that are often ignored, like PCOS and endometriosis.

‘They are the most privileged women in this world – especially when it comes to access to medical care,’ Aliabadi recently told The Los Angeles Times in a profile about the guests on her dazzling new show.

‘These are women who have good insurance. They can afford going to any doctor on this planet and yet their symptoms are [still] dismissed.’

‘They’re speaking from their heart because they want to help another woman,’ the Georgetown University-trained doctor explained.

Aliabadi hosts the podcast alongside Mary Alice Haney, who is a former fashion designer, and the one who urged her to start a show in the first place, according to the LA Times.

‘She’s a doctor first, and she’s a podcast host second,’ Haney explained to the outlet of Aliabadi. 

The OB-GYN is certainly no stranger to being in the public eye. 

In addition to having over 442,000 followers on Instagram, she has appeared on episodes of The Kardashians as Khloe’s OB-GYN, and has shared her expertise with multiple news outlets.

Dr. Aliabadi was also the one who diagnosed Olivia Munn with breast cancer; the actress recentyl shared her story during an episode of She MD.

Aliabadi explained to the LA Times that oftentimes, women will come to her after years of feeling ‘dismissed’ by other doctors. 

She joked that she has seen every ‘dismissed woman in town.’  

One of these patients is Mayan Lopez, who is the daughter of comedian George Lopez. 

She came to Dr. Aliabadi after struggling with symptoms like weight gain and facial hair since she was 10.

The doctor was able to diagnose Lopez with insulin-resistant Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).

‘I don’t just look at your uterus, tubes, ovaries, breasts and say, “You’re done.” I talk about depression,’ Aliabadi told The LA Times. 

‘This morning, I was scheduling an MRI and MRA of a brain to rule out [a] possible stroke in a patient of mine,’ she furthered. 

She hopes that her podcast will one day be a reliable medical source for women, especially in an age of TikTok and other social media misinformation.

During the interview, Aliabadi expressed her frustrations with the medical field, especially as it relates to how expensive tests and mammograms are – though her practice doesn’t take insurance.

Aliabadi wants women to have more access to information about their health, and is even in the process of training a chatbot to talk with her followers.

She noted that the chatbot will not be able to prescribe medication or treat patients, but will be for educational purposes.

On one of the most recent episode of her podcast, Aliabadi and Haney hosted reality star Aurora Culpo to talk about pregnancy and postpartum.

On another, they interviewed Dr. Omid Hamid about melanoma, a deadly skin cancer.

It seems like her guests go deep while talking to her and Haney, like Richie, who detailed her difficult birth story while on the podcast in 2024.

Aliabadi, of course, was her doctor, as she helped deliver her now one-year-old daughter, Eloise. 

The Solid & Striped designer explained that during her pregnancy, everything seemed to be going well until she reached 32 weeks, which is when things took a bit of a turn.

She recalled waking up and feeling really tired and cramp-y, while also struggling with back pains.

Richie said she didn’t think much of it and figured it was a normal part of pregnancy, but decided to check in with her doctor anyway, and thankfully, that was definitely the right choice.

‘[Aliabadi was like, “You know what? Actually, I think you should go see the fetal specialist to monitor, to make sure that everything’s OK, and then you’ll go home. It’s not a big deal,”‘ the fashion maven said.

‘Thank God she said that, because they hooked me up to the monitor and they were like, “You’re in active labor at 32 weeks,”‘ she revealed.

She was then sent to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for extra monitoring and IV fluids.

After a six-day stay, Richie was able to go home and was put on bed rest, where she was still contracting while being monitored.

Richie was able to make it full-term to 38 weeks, and said her delivery went smoothly.

She admitted that her experience was ’emotional,’ but she was happy when it was all over and most importantly, that her daughter was healthy.

‘It was intense, I gave birth and I was like, “Wow, I really did that,”‘ Richie described.

‘I did six weeks or however many weeks of contractions, and I have my beautiful daughter, I’m healthy, I’m safe, she’s healthy, she’s safe.’

However, unfortunately for Richie, the complications didn’t end there.

The model said that when she came home from the hospital after giving birth following a two-day stay, she ‘blew up like a balloon.’

‘Then, I went home, and I blew up like a balloon, quite literally, just swelled,’ she revealed, adding that she really was not feeling well.

Richie again texted the doctor, who she says was ‘on top if it,’ and sent over her nurse.

After some tests, Richie found out that her blood pressure was 165/103, which falls into the range of postpartum preeclampsia, a serious blood pressure condition.

The influencer ended up having to go back to the hospital to get herself taken care of, but admitted that leaving her newborn daughter was really difficult. 

Thankfully, Richie and her daughter Eloise are now healthy, and she seems to be enjoying every aspect of motherhood – no thanks to Aliabadi.
