Home stylists snap up $29 ‘dream buy’ from Kmart inspired by popular $16,500 design

Interior enthusiasts are buzzing over a new Kmart dupe that is said to be one of the most accurate yet.

The $29 Bubble Side Table, which looks almost identical to the expensive designer $16,436 Dança Side Table by Gabriela Campos, snuck onto Australian shelves this week and has been an instant hit.

Crafted from medium-density fibreboard with painting and pinewood, the Kmart table serves as a stylish accent piece with a unique silhouette and an on-trend deep green colourway.

The table is lightweight at just 3.5 kilograms, stands 50cm high and holds a maximum of five kilograms making it perfect for lamps, books, plants and small decorative pieces.

The Kmart item also comes in a pretty mauve shade which has been on sale for longer, for those who prefer a lighter colour palette.

To compare, the Gabriela Campos design comes in just one style with an emerald green top and stone-coloured base. It is made from sturdier marble, and stands at the exact same height of 50cm.

Shoppers have been quick to jump online and rave about their purchase, with one commenting the ‘cute little table is perfect’.

‘Absolutely love this table. It’s delightful to look at, sturdy and adds something to the living room,’ added another.

Kmart also had huge success with another designer side-table ‘dupe’ in February this year.

Tash, the brains behind The Styling Diaries, who regularly shares interiors and lifestyle tricks on a budget, snapped up two Kmart must-haves for her living room for a fraction of the price sold at popular furniture boutique fenton&fenton.

The $39 Iggy Side Table, looks almost identical to the very popular $390 Ziggy Stump by fenton&fenton, so the Brisbane-based DIY pro decided to recreate her two favourites (Spice and Blush) with a splash of paint from Bunnings.

‘For $390 it’s just not in my budget but I’ve always loved it; I love the funky shape and the fun colours it comes in,’ Tash said in a TikTok video.

‘I went to Bunnings, grabbed some spray paint and got to work. I got a chocolate brown and a baby pink.’

Tash used the brand Squirts for the chocolate brown and only needed the one can for a brilliant result. Both include a primer in the base to cut timing down even further.

She needed to return to Bunnings for a second can of the pink to reach the level of coverage she desired.

The results, she said, were worth the extra effort and could be achieved with regular paint as well.

‘Look how cute this one looks in my guest bedroom,’ she said, debuting the new-look Kmart buy.

‘I love pairing browns with pinks and purples and it looks so similar to the original but without the high price tag.

‘The baby pink I absolutely love, I’m going to do a couple more coats over it but I am so happy with these dupes.’

Fans were wildly impressed with Tash’s effort, with many vowing to try and replicate her work themselves.
