Homeowner fed up with missing Australia Post deliveries puts note on his letterbox that he is home – but it didn’t go as he expected

A frustrated Australia Post customer has taken to social media after a handwritten note he put on his letterbox stating he was home was ignored by the delivery driver.

The angry Aussie shared a picture on Monday of his out-of-the-box solution to the dreaded ‘collect at your local post office’ paper slip.

‘Aus Post, I am home!’ the note read in large letters.

The sign then included more helpful instruction to the courier.

‘I can help with my package if needed as it is heavy. Please feel free to knock and ask!’

The customer said in a Reddit thread he was determined the postman wouldn’t skip his parcel delivery ‘again’.

‘Very expensive and large package coming today. Ain’t no way I’m driving to the airport to pick it up because of my area’s driver!’ he wrote.

‘He loves to just put in the ‘we missed you’ note and speed off, and that’s if he even finds the motivation to leave a note at all!’

However, dozens of commenters worried the sign would be ignored by the postman

‘It’d be easier to set up a chair out front and sit by the mailbox because you just know the driver is going to try and run on you again,’ one wrote.

‘You also need to sit at your window staring out like a hawk, ready to run out the moment he drives up,’ another said.

‘I think the only option is to camp outside and question them,’ another wrote.

It turns out many of the commenters had it right.

The customer shared an update just one hour later showing his letter was ignored.

He shared a photo of the parcel collection slip which had been left inside the clearly sign-posted mailbox.

‘This is the update I knew was coming,’ one commenter wrote.

Others questioned if this was ‘fake’ but the poster insisted it was accurate and he had indeed been left the slip.

‘They 100 per cent did this out of spite,’ one commenter joked.

Another more cynical commenter added: ‘$20 says it was not even in his van because it was heavy.’

Australia Post urged the customer to contact them to resolve their delivery issue.
