Horror as man is attacked with a hammer while waiting for a bus in Marrickville, Sydney

A man has been rushed to hospital after being assaulted at a bus stop in Sydney, in the second hammer-related attack to rock the city.

Police were called to Addison Road in Marrickville, in the city’s inner-west, shortly after 9am on Friday following reports of an assault.

It’s understood the man was randomly attacked as he waited at a bus stop.

He was found suffering serious head injuries, with paramedics working quickly to stabilise the man at the scene.

He was then rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

Daily Mail has contacted NSW Police and NSW Ambulance for comment.

It comes after shocking footage captured the moment three Korean men were allegedly attacked with a hammer by a group of young attackers in Sydney’s CBD.

The disturbing attack was carried out at about 3am on Wednesday outside a convenience store near the intersection of Liverpool and Pitt streets.

In the video, a hammer is seen being pulled from a bag by one of the alleged attackers, before one of the men is repeatedly struck.

Another victim is seen being punched in the head from behind while looking away, as the Korean men attempt to calm the situation rather than fight back, raising their hands in an effort to defuse the confrontation.

One of the victims spoke out about the attack on social media.

‘Two days ago… I almost got killed with a hammer.’

The man said he did not hold resentment toward Australia despite the attack.

‘I don’t hate Australia. I just hope things move in the right direction and people respect everyone,’ he wrote. ‘Something bad has already happened to me, but I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else.’

When asked why he did not fight back, the victim said violence would only have made the situation worse.

‘Everyone is asking why I didn’t defend myself. Fighting is never a good thing,’ he said. ‘They were just young kids. They need guidance and support. I want to look at life positively.’
