How Hailee Steinfeld is helping NFL husband Josh Allen to finally end Bills’ crippling Super Bowl agony

Josh Allen knows he must end the Buffalo Bills’ agonizing wait for a Super Bowl this season – with superstar wife Hailee Steinfeld on hand to help edge him over the line.

Despite claiming the Most Valuable Player award after another sensational individual campaign, Allen failed to inspire the Bills to their first Super Bowl appearance for 31 years last term, with yet another playoff defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs sealing their fate in the AFC Championship game.

Buffalo’s wait for a first ever title went on as the Chiefs made it to the end-of-season showpiece in New Orleans, where they were trounced by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Seven months on from that gut-wrenching AFC Championship loss, Allen is now heading into his eighth NFL season with the weight of a franchise firmly on his shoulders.

And as the reigning MVP, he fully accepts that responsibility. 

A source close to the quarterback told DailyMail.com: ‘For Josh Allen, every year – but especially this year – it is Super Bowl or bust! He and the team have to get over the hump of the Chiefs and the curse of the Bills, not only making it to the big game but actually winning it. Because we all know what happened years ago when the Bills lost four times in a row [at the Super Bowl]. And that was well before Josh was in the mix.

‘He knows he is meant to be the savior, and if he doesn’t deliver, that is bad news. 

‘His personal life is at an all-time high, he is in the prime of his career and it would be unfinished business and crush him if he went through his career never to win the Super Bowl. There have been elite athletes in all forms of sports that haven’t won the big one, but for Josh to eventually live that life would be so heartbreaking. 

‘He must win. He will do everything in his power to make it happen. The Bills are lined up to be very good this year, and as long as everyone stays healthy, he knows that they have one of the best shots in making it. And winning it. That is the mentality he is living with.’

Shortly after being dumped out of the playoffs by the Chiefs for the fourth time in five years, Buffalo’s biggest hope tied the knot with Steinfeld in a beautiful ceremony at the San Ysidro ranch in Montecito, California.

Everything seems to be aligning for Allen, who started dating Steinfeld in 2023 before getting engaged last November, after he made things official with the Marvel star back in May.

One of the only boxes left for him to tick is achieving glory on the football field, or at the very least just make it to the Super Bowl. He and the Bills simply need to be involved in the NFL’s showpiece event rather than watching from afar.

Steinfeld’s influence will be vital in keeping Allen cool, calm and collected behind the scenes, which could make the difference at the business end of the season.

‘Hailee puts his mind at ease and supports him 100 percent,’ the insider continued. ‘Josh gives it right back and their connection and relationship makes everything a little bit easier, because they both understand success and what it takes to reach that, and they help each other out day in and day out to make each other better.

‘They are working out, and that will make everything else work out. They wouldn’t have it any other way. Adversity is not in their vocabulary, because they choose to fight that and fight for what they want, and they do it together. 

‘Hailee is going to be a major help for Josh this season as she will help with his psyche as the weeks continue to a potential and hopeful Super Bowl victory.’

Allen and the Bills get their 2025 campaign underway at home to the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday, with rival quarterback Lamar Jackson seeking revenge for last season’s Divisional round defeat.

They then make the trip to the New York Jets in Week 2, before the visits of the Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots make up their first five outings of the year.
