In Meghan’s worst year yet of flops and total failures, you have to ask why Harry REALLY just went off-grid for days. MAUREEN CALLAHAN has a theory…

Well, well, well: If this isn’t shaping up to be Meghan Markle’s own annus horribilis, right?
Breaking this week: Netflix is done with Meghan and Harry.
On the heels of her dreadful cooking show flopping hard, their $100 million deal with the streaming giant will reportedly not be renewed.
As camp Sussex furiously seeks to spin this latest failure into a success — with word of some kind of ‘first-look’ deal being struck — Netflix seemed to underscore their decision by releasing ratings data.
And wouldn’t you know: With Love, Meghan — which gave us the unforgettable declaration that ‘I’m SUSSEX now!’ — ranked No. 383 for the first half of 2025, with 5.3 million views.
Netflix reportedly counts ‘views’ as a subscriber watching for two minutes.
Harry and Meghan’s other recent ‘effort’ for the streamer, a reality show called Polo released in December, pulled in only 500,000 views and ranked No. 3,436.
Also this week, the Daily Mail revealed that Harry went ‘off the grid’ for ‘two days or so’ days during his recent trip to Africa, and that even Meghan couldn’t reach him.
Well, well, well: If this isn’t shaping up to be Meghan Markle’s own annus horribilis, right?
Harry went ‘off the grid’ for ‘two days or so’ days during his recent trip to Africa, and that even Meghan couldn’t reach him.
And this is the guy who says he needs massive taxpayer-funded security to keep him safe!
But logic is not something to expect from Harry, or Meghan, or whatever lackey is forced to issue a press release trying to make this dire situation hunky-dory.
Here’s a question: How could a truly involved father of two small children go completely no-contact, for days?
Harry, we were told, simply wanted to ‘take some time away from everything’ — from what? Getting axed by major corporations? — ‘enjoying total peace of mind and being somewhere so remote that he couldn’t even get emails or texts or calls.’
It’s not like Harry has a ton of people clamoring to talk to him.
He remains cut off from the Royal Family, has lost most of his original friend group since his marriage to Meghan, and was recently spotted ringing doorbells alone in London searching for old pals.
Nor has Harry established, by all reports, an independent friend group in Montecito. So, whose calls and text was he dodging, really?
While in Africa, Harry also reportedly spent time with a woman named Tania ‘TJ’ Jenkins, who he referred to in his memoir as a second ‘mom’. He’s so close to TJ and her husband Mike, in fact, that he flew Meghan over to meet them just one month into the relationship.
Where’s Meghan now?
She has got to be spiraling out — especially in the wake of that ‘reconciliation summit’ with emissaries of King Charles.
Even though the Sussexes jointly sent their own representatives, Harry is now said to be sick of his reputation as the ‘bitter prince’ and surely knows the only way back into the royal fold is without Meghan.
And their surely dwindling income must make the King’s senior advisors quite nervous. If past behavior is the best predictor of future acts — well, the Sussexes have historically raked in huge paydays for selling out royal secrets.
And they have, arguably, well proved that no secret is safe with them, and that, sans royal dirt, they have nothing people want to see, hear or buy.
As United Talent Agency CEO Jeremy Zimmer said back in 2023, after Spotify dropped her and Harry: ‘Turns out Meghan Markle was not a great audio talent — or necessarily any kind of talent.’
Savage but true.
Harry and Meghan’s production company alone is said to cost $3 million a year to run, not to mention the mortgage on their $14.65 million estate, other staff, private planes and private security.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s second podcast deal with Lemonada has not been renewed. WME’s Ari Emanuel was reported as being ‘done with her’ as far back as February. The agency has said they will still represent her — but for how much longer?
Oprah hasn’t been in the vicinity for years now. Meghan’s apparently not on the guest list for hanging with Gayle King and Kris Jenner and Tyler Perry — Perry, who sent his private plane for them and loaned them his mansion in the wake of Megxit — at Beyonce concerts.
Even Meghan’s former BFF Jessica Mulroney has popped her head up again this week, with insiders saying she ‘regrets’ being friends with Meghan, and thinks of that period as a ‘dark cloud’.

My, my, how the tables have turned.
Once upon a time it was Meghan shedding old friends, letting it be known that she dropped Jessica — who helped Meghan social climb — because she felt her longtime pal was trying to ‘make a career out of the friendship’, as one insider said.
HA! As if Meghan hasn’t been busy making a career off the backs of the Royal Family, who she otherwise has said were racist, who didn’t care if she killed herself while pregnant, and who practically chased her out of Britain.
And that’s not to mention the roughly 20 employees who have quit or were fired by the Sussexes, including four this summer, and the sloppy rollout of Meghan’s As Ever product line.
And let’s not forget the Sentebale scandal, with Dr. Sophie Chandauka, chair of the charity Harry founded in memory of his mother, telling the media that the Sussexes were just too difficult to handle.
Harry was forced to resign from Sentebale, a decision he called ‘devastating’.
So, yes.
Storm Cloud Meghan seems to be expanding with each failure and loss of 2025.
When she unleashes is only a matter of time.
