Notorious prankster Daniel Jarvis has been arrested after successfully invading the pitch of the second Ashes Test and linking arms with Cameron Munster during the national anthem.

Footage of the incident sees Jarvis — who has orchestrated similar stunts in the past — somehow evading security ahead of Australia’s victory over England at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool, all while dressed in a replica Kangaroo jersey with “Jarvo 69” written on the back.

Jarvis then briefly locked arms with Munster as “Advance Australia Fair” began playing throughout the stadium, but was apprehended by security and escorted off field shortly after.

Merseyside Police confirmed Jarvis was detained and taken to a station for questioning after being arrested on suspicion of possessing articles for use in fraud and fraud by false representation.

Elaborating on the incident after the match, Munster said he assumed Jarvis “had some corporate package or some agreement” that permitted him to be on the field during the national anthem.

“Then I realised who it was. It was the guy who does that stuff on the regular. It took me a while to click on but it was pretty funny. He got me,” Munster said.

The Ashes stunt is the latest in a string of spotting pranks masterminded by Jarvis over the years.

In 2022, Jarvis ran on to the field at The Oval stadium during a Test match between England and India, and again invaded a pitch in 2024 when lining up with the English football team during a Nations League game against the Republic of Ireland.

Last year, Jarvis gatecrashed the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics while dressed up as a member of Team Great Britain.

The Kangaroos still bested England despite Jarvis’ interruption, pulling off a 14-4 defeat ahead of their third and final Test at Headingley in Leeds next Sunday.
