Social media star Charlie Meza has died aged nine after documenting life with brain cancer.
Her mom, Taylor, took to Instagram to share the tragic passing with a simple caption that read: ‘She is free.’
Charlie was just three years old when she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer that primarily affects children.
Taylor has since documented her daughter’s health journey under the handle Cheering for Charlie where the duo had gained more than 100,000 followers.
In the days before Charlie died, friends of the Meza family set up a GoFundMe to cover the cost of her urn and funeral services as well as to support the family through their grief.
It read: ‘Their beautiful Charlie is preparing to be forever healed, leaving behind a family that is shattered: her parents, Taylor and Alecs, and younger brothers, Theo and Jackson.
‘While I know we all wish we could do something to save them from this heartache, we can’t anymore. But we can lessen the financial burden.’
The fundraiser had raised over $94,000 of its $150,000 goal as of February 16.
