An influencer couple have been criticised for ‘naming their child for clicks’ after they revealed the baby’s unusual moniker.
Welsh TikTokers Corey and Lea, who run multiple accounts but are best known for their lifestyle and food channel @corysworldd, recently welcomed their firstborn.
After keeping the infant’s name secret for weeks, Corey and Lea shared footage of their son in his cot wearing a pair of dungarees emblazoned with his name: Adventure.
However, their reveal sparked outrage as social media users branded the couple ‘diabolical’ for picking such a non-traditional name.
Some argued it could even affect the child’s ‘mental health’ in the future.
Fans took to the comments section to question their ‘ridiculous’ choice – with one person advising: ‘Stop using your kid’s name for more views.’
Another felt their baby’s name was being used to drive up the engagement on their post, which received over 600 comments and 15,000 likes.

‘That’s diabolical tbh, adventure?? Do they realise he will be a grown man one day,’ one user commented.
Another wrote: ‘Literally call CPS [Child Protective Services] because that is cruelty at this point.’
‘Naming your child for clicks and views is just plain wrong, you are naming a person for life not a dog,’ a third added.
One TikTok user suggested that the new parents had ‘totally lost it’ while another added: ‘Surely for the sake of your child’s mental health you wouldn’t put them through this? It’s just not worth it.’
In a similar vein, another wrote: ‘Poor kid doesn’t stand a chance.’
‘What a shocking name,’ one wrote. ‘Is that even a name….?’
‘You’ve genuinely just set him up for bullying for life,’ another message read.

Professing to worry about the baby’s future, one mused on how the moniker could affect his life in years to come.
They said: ‘You do realise your kid will have this his whole life? Mid 30’s tryin to be a professional introducing himself to people as ‘adventure’.’
‘Cory and Leah I love you guys but this is not it. He is super cute though,’ a similar message read.
Several took to the comments section to question whether the name reveal was purely an attempt to rack up clicks and attention.
‘Is this a joke just to try and get more views and comments?’ asked one. ‘He would be made fun of and commented on his whole life otherwise.’
Letting their feelings be known, another left a concise comment saying: ‘Pathetic calling him that silly name he has to live with it for life.’
Some TikTok users came to the couple’s defence, advising those that don’t like the name to keep their feelings to themselves.
One said: ‘Imagine commenting to say you don’t like someone’s baby name when it’s not your baby! There’s no need!! He’s a gorgeous baby and clearly loved and I wish you three nothing but happiness.’
Numerous people took to the comment section of the video to criticise the choice of name revealed in the video
Another said they liked the name – and even suggested that it leant itself to a sweet nickname. They wrote: ‘I absolutely love the name adventure! Addy for short, adorable guys.’
Another noted: ‘I feel so saddened by some of the comments on this video! He’s not your baby he’s Cory and Lea’s. Welcome to the world Baby Adventure he’s beautiful and hope your all doing well xx’
‘Ah god you know what, it’s nobody else’s business,’ a third wrote. ‘Cory and Lea chose THEIR babies name because it’s what THEY wanted. I personally think it’s fantastic. Whatever the name, their baby boy is happy, healthy and loved. That’s the most important thing. Xxx’
A further commentator simply said: ‘What a beautiful name for a beautiful baby! congratulations.’
And some noted that the name may be fake, so the real name can be kept just for the family: ‘That is definitely a fake name for Internet.’
Meanwhile, some people had more charitable comments to share about the baby and what name his parents said they’d chosen for him
‘I’m not really sure why the internet is so interested in knowing a child’s name anyway,’ another agreed. ‘I would 100 per cent agree with them if they gave him a ‘stage name’ for social media. It’s a weird world as it is.’
It is not completely uncommon for people in the public eye to choose ‘pseudo names’ to share with the public and avoid excessive intrusion, according to one expert.
She added that some well-known people also like to choose unusual names, so their children stand out.
Nicole Reaney, a PR expert and the CEO of InsideOut PR, told news.com.au: ‘A bit of fun with a name can create a unique identity for a person and a sense of character. Some selected names can be questionable and take that creativity a little too far.’
Discussing privacy, she said: ‘There are also privacy concerns when it comes to a celebrity’s child, particularly with the explosion of AI and fake news sites. Sometimes a pseudo name is created to avoid public intrusion into their personal lives.’
