Infuriating moment Melbourne couple have their car stolen from their garage as they were packing it for their trip to Bali

A Melbourne couple have lost $60,000 after a thief stole their car while they were packing for a family getaway to Bali.

Angela and her husband Andrej had just finished packing up their Kia Carnival, which was parked on their driveway on Weston Drive, Keysborough, when the theft took place about 4.15am on Thursday.

The mother-of-three was preparing for the family’s dream holiday when an opportunistic thief took advantage of the situation.

After packing up the car with their suitcases, electronics, including iPads for the plane journey, and their passports, Angela put the key in the ignition and turned it on.

As she prepared to put her three young children in the car, the mum turned her back for a second just as an unknown man walked past.

He quickly jumped into the driver’s seat and sped off with the car.

In chilling CCTV footage, the man can be seen calmly walking down the street before stealing the vehicle.

Angela and Andrej can be heard screaming as they chase the vehicle down.

The mum said her children aged five, three and 18-months witnessed the theft as the family prepared to leave for the airport to catch a flight to Bali for 10 days.

Angela revealed the family had lost about $60,000 in stolen suitcases, passports and wallets and cancelled accommodation.

Police confirmed to Daily Mail the thief ‘narrowly missed’ hitting Andrej as he sped off.

‘No one was physically injured during the incident, however the car contained luggage and passports,’ a spokesperson said.

Angela said she feels ‘violated’ after the incident and is heartbroken the thief ruined the family’s first holiday.

‘We don’t know if we’re going to get the car back, we don’t know if we’re going to get our passports back, we don’t know if we can afford to take our kids on a holiday anymore,’ she told the Herald Sun.

‘We’ve lost so much in such a quick second.’

The vehicle is a 2022 model silver Kia Carnival with registration DBS638.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
