Iran-US war latest: No survivors aboard US military plane which crashed in Iraq, Centcom confirms

Six US servicemen have died after a US refuelling tanker crashed in western Iraq, US Central Command has confirmed.

The military said on Friday afternoon that all crew members aboard the KC-135 Stratotanker were killed in the incident late on Thursday, as investigators worked to piece together what happened.

At least 13 US service members have now been killed since the war started two weeks ago. Some 140 have been wounded.

“The aircraft was lost while flying over friendly airspace March 12 during Operation Epic Fury,” Centcom said in a statement, adding that the loss of the aircraft was not due to hostile fire or friendly fire.

Earlier today, Pete Hegseth played down concerns about safety in the Strait of Hormuz, as he said the US was “decimating” the Tehran regime.

Speaking in a press conference, Mr Hegseth said that Iran was “exercising sheer desperation in the Strait of Hormuz,” adding: “We have been dealing with it, and don’t need to worry about it.”
