Iran-US war latest: Tehran threatens to ‘completely close’ Strait of Hormuz after Trump issues 48-hour ultimatum

Iran has warned it will completely close the Strait of Hormuz and strike energy and water infrastructure across the Gulf if the US follows through on president Donald Trump’s threat to attack its power plants.
“If Iran’s fuel and energy infrastructure is attacked by the enemy, all energy infrastructure, as well as information technology and water desalination facilities, belonging to the US and the regime in the region will be targeted,” military spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaqari said.
The Revolutionary Guards said the strait “will be completely closed and will not be opened until our destroyed power plants are rebuilt.”
Parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned that critical infrastructure could be “irreversibly destroyed” if Iranian power plants were hit.
Desalination plants produce 100 per cent of drinking water in Bahrain and Qatar, and meet more than 80 per cent of the UAE’s needs.
MrTrump said Iran will soon find out what will happen with the 48-hour ultimatum he issued, demanding it open the Strait of Hormuz or face the destruction of its power plants.
The president told Israel’s Channel 13 on Saturday night “there will be the total destruction of Iran and it is going to work great.”
