Victoria Premier Jacinta Allan’s husband has been stripped of his driver’s licence after failing a random breath test.
Allan made a statement on Friday after learning the her husband, Yorick Piper, failed a roadside breath test in Bendigo.
The under-siege premier said she was ‘shocked’ and ‘deeply sorry’ after her husband was caught.
Piper had been involved after a minor collision at an intersection shortly before police tested the premier’s husband.
He blew exactly 0.05, which meant Piper copped the immediate loss of his driver’s licence for three months.
Allan said the incident ‘showed it was important not to get behind the wheel if there was any danger they were under the influence’.
‘The lesson is don’t, don’t get behind the wheel,’ she said.
Victoria Police have just launched their Roadwise campaign targeting drink driving ahead of the holiday season.
