Jamie Lee Curtis sobs over murder of Charlie Kirk as she compares him to JESUS

Outspoken liberal actress Jamie Lee Curtis broke down in tears as she mourned Charlie Kirk as a ‘man of faith’ and compared him to Jesus Christ.

The Oscar winner grew emotional in an appearance this week on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, saying she wanted to bring up Kirk’s assassination ‘because it’s front of mind.’

Curtis initially referred to Kirk as ‘Charlie Crist’ – confusing him for the former Florida governor – but corrected herself as she said: ‘I just call him Crist, I think, because of Christ, because of his deep belief.’

The actress’s tribute to Kirk comes despite her vocal opposition to Donald Trump and many on the Right, including describing the president as ‘draconian’ when he retook the White House in November.

Curtis’s respect for Kirk will likely come as a surprise to many. Her daughter Ruby is transgender, with Kirk one of the most famous anti-trans figures in the US.

She added in an Instagram post at the time: ‘Many fear their rights will be impeded and denied. Many, minority groups and young people will be afraid. Gay and trans people will be more afraid.’

However, she has also previously described her belief in a higher power, which she was drawn to by getting sober with Alcoholics Anonymous run by the Presbyterian church 25 years ago. She had developed an addiction to painkillers and alcohol.

Curtis fought back tears as she spoke of Kirk’s death during the podcast, saying she connected with the Trump ally’s deep spirituality.

‘I disagreed with him on almost every point,’ she said.

‘But I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died that he felt connected to his faith.’

Curtis said she was touched deeply by seeing Kirk die in the broad daylight shooting at Utah Valley University.

She said she feared the impact that society being ‘bombarded’ with footage of horrific events on social media could have, adding: ‘I don’t ever want to see this footage of this man being shot.’

‘Even though I find what his ideas were abhorrent to me, I still believe he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith, and I hope whatever ‘connection to God’ means, that he felt it,’ she said.

The Oscar-winning actress said she also felt ‘associated’ with an assassination being witnessed by the whole nation, because she was born exactly five years to the day that President John F. Kennedy was shot.

‘I’m associated with this awful day of someone being assassinated on television,’ she said.

‘We are numb to them, but they are in there. We don’t know, we don’t know enough psychologically about what that does.

‘What does that do? Is that the case why we’re all feeling this lack of humanity—because we are just saturated with these images?’

Curtis has previously spoken about the spiritual connection she developed while getting sober.

In February 2021 to mark 22 years sober, she shared a throwback post of her with a glass of tequila.

‘With God’s grace and the support of many people who could relate… I’ve been able to stay sober, one day at a time. … To all those struggling and those who are on the path… MY HAND IN YOURS.’

Curtis’s family has been plagued by addiction, with her brother Nicholas dying from a heroin overdose at just 21 in 1994.

Her father, actor Tony Curtis, was also a drug and alcohol abuser, and she admitting have done cocaine with him on occasion.

Curtis’ Kirk’s revelation comes as the accused assassination, 22-year-old Utah resident Tyler Robinson, is refusing to cooperate with police following his arrest.

FBI Director Kash Patel revealed Tuesday that Robinson justified his actions by saying that ‘some hatred cannot be negotiated with’ before he allegedly shot Kirk dead last week.

‘I will say what was found in terms of information, a text message exchange, where the suspect specifically stated he had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and he was gonna do that,’ Patel told Fox News.

Robinson will appear in court today – where he’s set to be charged for Kirk’s death.

The investigation, according to Patel, has featured witness interviews between both the FBI and local and regional law enforcement, where they found Robinson ‘essentially admitted’ to killing Kirk.

DNA from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm that was used to kill Kirk was a match for the suspect, Patel said.

He also tempered concerns about how long details pertaining to the probe were taking, saying that he ‘won’t stylize the evidence’ but that ‘information will come out’.
