Jason Whitlock calls out NFL for ‘gay commercials’ and LGBTQ agenda in bizarre Bad Bunny Super Bowl rant

Bad Bunny being chosen to perform the Super Bowl halftime show is another example of ‘gender fluidity’ and LGBTQIA+ messages being ‘shoved down our throat’ by the NFL, claims Jason Whitlock.

The decision to name Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny as the musical act for this season’s football showpiece has proved fiercely controversial, with a number of MAGA commentators furious at the prospect of the anti-Donald Trump artist headlining at halftime.

His well-known disdain for Trump’s immigration policies has irked conservatives most, while several fans have also pointed out that his songs are almost exclusively written and performed in Spanish.

And in a bizarre rant on the latest episode of his BlazeTV and YouTube show, in which he blasted the NFL for airing too many ‘gay commercials’ during games, Whitlock has fumed that Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl gig is continuing the same theme.

The outspoken conservative podcaster took issue with a PayPal ad featuring actor Will Ferrell, who is wearing hair curlers and sitting in a bubble bath, as well as a DirectTV commercial which sees more actors in Kumail Nanjiani and Rob McElhenney donning huge fur coats and jewelry while sitting close together on a couch.

In a video titled ‘NFL Commercials More Gay Than Bad Bunny’, Whitlock said: ‘What’s up with all the gay commercials during NFL games?’

He then linked his outrage to Bad Bunny, who has previously been hailed as an LGBTQIA+ icon after opening up about his own sexual fluidity in public and wearing drag on several occasions.

‘What are we doing? And you’re wondering why the NFL has booked Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl halftime, this promotion of gender fluidity, this promotion of the LGBTQIA+ silent P crowd. It’s all over their advertising,’ Whitlock added.

He continued: ‘What are we doing? And it’s clear as day what we’re doing. They want fathers and sons, fathers and children sitting on the couch, sitting in the living room, sitting in their man caves, watching football with their sons. And they want the sons and daughters to ask, “What’s that?”

‘They want that question. They’re trying to force that conversation on all parents and all kids. And they’re going to promote that at the Super Bowl with this Bad Bunny gimmick. Can we just watch football without getting the gay thing shoved down our throat? Could we just watch football without the sexual stuff shoved down our throat?

‘It’s unnecessary, and it’s intentional.’

Thousands of fans want the NFL and Jay Z’s Roc Nation company – which has helped decide the Super Bowl halftime act since 2019 – to rethink their decision after selecting Bad Bunny for the upcoming show in February.

A petition has even been launched for country music legend George Strait to replace him amid fears he will turn it into a ‘political stunt.’

The Change.org petition, which was started by Kar Shell, describes the halftime show as a celebration of ‘the cultural tapestry of America’ despite recent performances leaning ‘increasingly towards modern pop and international artists.’

It then goes on to argue the case for 73-year-old Strait, the iconic singer, songwriter, actor and producer considered by many as the ‘King of Country Music.’

‘[He] embodies the heart and soul of American music. With over 60 No. 1 hits and more than 40 years in the music industry, George Strait is not only a legend in the country music genre but a staple in American musical history. His ability to transcend generations with his timeless songs resonates with a diverse demographic, welcoming both long-time fans and newcomers,’ the petition reads.

Shell then rips into the prospect of Bad Bunny, whose songs are almost exclusively in Spanish, bringing ‘the opposite of what families expect on football’s biggest stage’ in Santa Clara.

‘The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt,’ it continues. ‘Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football’s biggest stage.

‘Again, George Strait embodies unity, tradition, and the timeless American music that truly deserves the 2026 Super Bowl spotlight.’

The petition has close to 17,500 signatures at the time of writing.
