Back in September 2023, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas‘ divorce monopolised the headlines. From rumours of disparaging comments heard on Ring cameras to whispers that the now 29-year-old actress was a party girl, it seemed like a messy and painful situation. But now, it appears that nature is healing because twice in one week, the ex-couple has shared some pretty lovely comments about each other in the public sphere.
Speaking to Jay Shetty during the podcaster’s On Purpose Live Tour, Joe praised the Game of Thrones star for her parenting finesse.
“I have a beautiful coparenting relationship that I’m really grateful for. Having an incredible mom, Sophie, for those girls is like a dream come true,” Joe said at a show in Hollywood.
Sophie and Joe are parents to four-year-old Willa and two-year-old Delphine.
“As young girls, looking up to great women is what I want for them,” Joe said.
“I think what values I want for them are to be open-minded and have a big heart, be able to walk into any room and feel confident, and know that they can do literally anything they want.”
Joe and Sophie first got together in 2016 and got engaged in October 2017. They tied the knot in May 2019 before starting their family.
They were the ultimate cool young celebrity couple. However, things took a turn in September 2023 when Joe filed for divorce after four years of marriage. After this, a slew of insiders and sources came out of the woodwork with various disparaging whispers on both sides.
It wasn’t long before Sophie then sued Joe, requesting that the children be returned to her home country of England, with the lawsuit asking for “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained”, per PEOPLE.
In October, the pair reached a temporary custody agreement, and in January 2024, Sophie dropped her case against Joe.
“They turned things around from the initial messy custody battle,” a source told PEOPLE.
“They are friendly and great co-parents now.”
