Josh O’Connor, Mila Kunis & More Celebs Search For Clues In New Knives Out 3 Trailer

Well, sharpen your magnifying glass and put the kettle on, because our favourite southern detective is back with the “most dangerous case yet”. With director Rian Johnson returning at the helm and Netflix dropping the first trailer for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, I am sat!

So, what’s the goss on Benoit Blanc’s latest case? Let’s break it down.

Who has been cast in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery?
Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is back, naturally — the series won’t work without that Kentucky drawl. But this time he’s wrangling an ensemble stacked with Oscar faves and TV darlings including Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church.
What has director Rian Johnson said about Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery?
Rian Johnson shared a few cryptic hints about Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery on X back in 2024, saying: “We’re about to go into production on the 3rd [Knives Out film], and I’m, very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going.”
“I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love the most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”

What’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery about?
According to the official logline and trailer, things get properly weird in this one. A young priest (Josh O’Connor) assists Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin) when their parish is rocked by a very public and very impossible murder.

As seen in the trailer, Blanc narrates: “A man gives a sermon. He then, in plain sight of everyone, walks into a sealed concrete box. Thirty seconds later, that man is lying dead.”
Aka, it’s giving “locked room mystery” with a spiritual twist.
The congregation is just as juicy — Glenn Close as a fervent church lady, Jeremy Renner as the town doctor, Kerry Washington as a tightly‑wound lawyer, Andrew Scott as a bestselling author and Mila Kunis as the local police chief
Where is Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery set?
The location for Knives Out 3 is in the fictional town of Chimney Rock in upstate New York a long way away from Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery‘s set in Greece. I’m not saying that the most recent Knives Out cast got the short end of the stick, but I’m not not saying that.
When will Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery be released?
Netflix has done us a solid and given us a clear release date! Wake Up Dead Man will screen in theatres from November 26 before hitting Netflix worldwide on December 12.
Is there a trailer for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery?
Netflix has dropped a spicy trailer for the hotly anticipated flick and it looks like we’re in for a treat!
It opens on a church pulpit, with a charismatic and fiery monsignor (Josh Brolin) delivering an impassioned sermon. Then things get weird. The same man confidently walks into a sealed concrete box — and 30 seconds later, he’s found dead. No obvious suspects, no clear motive. It’s a classic locked-door (or in this case, locked-box) mystery.
Enter Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, who returns as the detective drawn to this “impossible crime”. In the trailer, he calmly declares: “For a man of reason, this is the Holy Grail.”
We also meet Reverend Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor), who’s been sent to assist Wicks, and he’s clearly rattled by the unfolding events.
The trailer teases a sprawling cast of potential suspects — including devout churchgoer Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close), shady lawyer Vera Draven (Kerry Washington), ambitious politician Cy Draven (Daryl McCormack), the town doctor Nat Sharp (Jeremy Renner), a best-selling author named Lee Ross (Andrew Scott), and a concert cellist Simone Vivane (Cailee Spaeny).
Local police chief Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis) is also in the mix — she teams up with Blanc to try and untangle this tight-knit, secretive community.
Throw in some bloody scenes, penis graffiti and intense staring and you have yourself a ripping good time!

Is there a chance of a Knives Out 4?
Anything could happen, but creator Rian Johnson seems down to clown.
“I’ll keep doing it as long as Daniel [Craig] and I are having a good time. I’ll keep making these as long as they let me,” he said in a 2022 interview with Variety.
I like those odds!
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery can be streamed right now on Netflix.
