Karoline Leavitt, 28, hides 60-year-old husband’s face from family snaps in wake of ‘airbrushing’ accusations

Karoline Leavitt appeared to hide her husband’s face in new Instagram posts this weekend after she was accused of ‘airbrushing’ his visage on Halloween.

Leavitt, 28, is married to the much older Nicholas Riccio, 60, whom she wed last winter in her home state of New Hampshire.

The two share 16-month-old son, Niko, together.

Last week, Leavitt shared some snaps from their family Halloween celebrations together, as she and her husband took baby Niko, dressed as a pumpkin, to trick-or-treat at The White House.

However, the Press Secretary caught some heat after many social media users seemed to believe that she had thrown an airbrush filter over her husband’s face.

The images on Leavitt’s social media account were different to those shared by press photographers and appeared to show a more ‘unfiltered’ view.

Her page was soon flooded with comments that accused her of enhancing her husband’s appearance.

‘The airbrushing of your hub’s face to make him appear younger was the trick,’ one commenter wrote.

‘Karoline, awesome picture but my friends noticed something: The guy on the left seems to have only his face photoshopped. His hands look like 60+ years old,’ another user added.

Leavitt, who has more than 2.6 million followers, has not responded publicly to the criticism or addressed whether any of the photos had been edited before being posted.

However, she did appear to hide her husband’s face as she recapped her weekend on Instagram stories Sunday night.

Leavitt posted multiple snapshots of her weekend activities to share with followers, including her making cinnamon rolls after going to church, and watching football with her son on the couch.

In one of the photos that she had posted, of her son lying on the bed, her husband appeared to be in the shot holding a toy for their child, but his face was cut off.

Followers also saw a glimpse of a man’s shoes as she took a snap from her view in church.

Leavitt also shared pictures of herself making dinner for her son, and even of their Christmas tree this year, which they had already put up in the house.

Another showed her posing for a mirror selfie with her son smiling on her hip.

The youngest press secretary in American history has largely kept her private life out of the spotlight, but revealed that she met her husband during her congressional campaign in 2022.

She opened up in an interview with Megyn Kelly about how the romance first began, sharing: ‘I met my husband during my Congressional Campaign. A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband.

‘I was speaking. We met and we were acquainted as friends. And then we fell in love.’

The Megyn Kelly Show host then asked if there had been any thought in her mind of ‘I can’t date him, he’s 59 and I’m 27?’

Leavitt confirmed that she had dealt with those initial doubts about how the 32-year age gap would impact the relationship – but so far, things seem to be going well.

‘Yes, of course. I mean it’s a very atypical love story but he’s incredible,’ she gushed. ‘He is my greatest supporter, he’s my best friend and he’s my rock.’

The political aide continued: ‘He’s built a very successful business himself so now he’s fully supportive of me building my success in my career.’

Her husband founded the real estate business Riccio Enterprises LLC and currently, he manages beachfront houses in New Hampshire, where the couple is from.

In October, Leavitt spoke to The Conservateur about juggling motherhood with her fast-paced job.

She said she was thankful for her Riccio and his flexible work schedule, as he could take care of Nico while she was at work.

‘Leaving the baby every day to go to work, it does break your heart, Leavitt admitted.

‘It’s incredibly challenging emotionally, physically, spiritually,’ she added.
