Katy Perry has had a pretty rough go of it lately, hasn’t she? From her public divorce from Orlando Bloom to an extended flop era to that ill-fated trip to space, it’s safe to say she isn’t having a good year. But it looks like she’s figured out a way forward from the scrutiny: going on a date Justin Trudeau, the dreamy and recently divorced former prime minister of Canada.
TMZ dropped the tea on Wednesday (local time), revealing Katy and Justin were spotted having dinner Monday night at Montreal hot spot Le Violon.
The gossip mongers even managed to snag a quick video clip from the night, where Perry is literally glowing at Trudeau with, and this is the scientific term, full-on heart eyes.

According to TMZ, the pair sipped cocktails, split a bunch of dishes (yes, including lobster), and even popped into the kitchen afterward to thank the staff. Bless!
So, was it officially a date? Or just two mates grabbing dinner? It’s hard to say. But the pair certainly weren’t going incognito so one could argue that they had no problem being spotted together on what looked like a v romantic occasion.

Both celebs are currently recovering from heartbreak, with Justin having split from his wife of 18 years, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, back in 2023, and back in January of this year, he announced he was stepping down as prime minister and leader of Canada’s Liberal Party. So really, he’s recovering from two heartbreaks.
As for Katy and Orlando, they confirmed rampant breakup rumours earlier this month with a joint statement.
The statement, which was shared in tandem to Us Weekly, goes as follows: “Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting.
“They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
