Kazakhstan Launches Golden Visa Program to Boost Economic Partnerships and Attract Global Capital

Written by Dr. Abdul Rahim Ibrahim Abdul Wahid
Astana – The Republic of Kazakhstan has officially launched a comprehensive investor visa program, marking a strategic step toward deeper economic integration with the global business community. This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, forms part of a broader national plan to modernize and diversify the economy, attract foreign direct investment, and build long-term partnerships.
A Gateway to Central Asia’s Rising Economy
Under the new regulations, foreign investors contributing at least USD 300,000 to the capital of a registered Kazakh company or to publicly traded local securities are eligible to apply online for a long-term residence visa—commonly known as the “Golden Visa.” This visa grants residency for up to 10 years.
A Ministry spokesperson stated:
“We are building a future where global investors are true partners in our development journey. The Golden Visa is an open invitation to invest, innovate, and collaborate long-term in Kazakhstan.”
This initiative is one of the most attractive residency-by-investment frameworks in Central Asia and the CIS, offering streamlined digital processes, legal incentives, and legislative protections for capital.
Key Benefits of the Program:
• Renewable 10-year residence with a path to permanent residency
• Access to Special Economic Zones offering tax exemptions and infrastructure support
• Opportunities to partner with government development institutions and strategic investment projects
• Free repatriation of capital and profits under bilateral investment protection treaties
• Access to the Eurasian Economic Union market, comprising over 180 million consumers
A Secure and Attractive Investment Climate
The program is designed not only to attract funds, but also to promote knowledge transfer, innovation, and sustainable development. It aligns with Kazakhstan’s Investment Policy Vision 2029, which emphasizes transparency, public-private partnerships, and digital transformation in investment services.
It also supports the government’s efforts to develop non-oil sectors, especially renewable energy, technology, tourism, agriculture, and logistics.
A Global Visa with a Kazakh Signature
Residency-by-investment programs exist in countries like Portugal, Singapore, the UAE, and Canada—but Kazakhstan offers a unique value proposition: a strategic location between Europe and Asia, rich natural resources, advanced infrastructure, and Belt and Road Initiative partnerships.
According to “Kazakh Invest,” foreign direct investment into Kazakhstan exceeded USD 28 billion in 2023. The Golden Visa is seen as a key instrument to sustain and accelerate this upward momentum.
Kazakhstan has also introduced three new visa categories to attract skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and remote workers:
• Neo Nomad Visa (B12-1)
• Digital Nomad Visa (B9-1)
• Permanent Residence Visa (B9)
These flexible immigration pathways cater to individuals seeking long-term opportunities for career advancement, business expansion, or remote work in Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan offers a stable, business-friendly environment with growing opportunities in tech, finance, and high-demand sectors. The Digital Nomad Visa allows professionals to live in Kazakhstan while applying for permanent residency. Applicants must obtain a letter of support from Astana Hub or an authorized IT entity.
A Growing Destination for Global Talent
Kazakhstan is one of the fastest-growing economies in the region, offering a high standard of living, strong digital infrastructure, and expanding career opportunities. With a unique blend of modern cities and breathtaking natural landscapes, it appeals to professionals seeking both career growth and an attractive lifestyle.
Whether you’re a skilled expert seeking long-term prospects or a global nomad in search of a new and inspiring destination, Kazakhstan’s new visa programs provide the flexibility and support needed to thrive in an emerging global hub.
The Digital Nomad Visa targets IT professionals relocating to Kazakhstan for permanent residency. It offers a one-year single-entry e-visa and a multiple-entry paper visa issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Applicants must obtain a recommendation from Astana Hub or a recognized IT authority.
The Permanent Residence Visa offers a path for professionals in high-demand fields such as medicine, science, innovation, education, and the creative industries. It includes a single-entry visa valid for 90 days and a multiple-entry visa renewable annually. Upon arrival, applicants can transition to full permanent residency and integrate into the labor market.
