Kristi Noem’s epic fashion fails from notorious ICE Barbie get-up to dressing up as a prison warden and her VERY inappropriate work clothes

In a humiliating move, ICE Barbie Kristi Noem was officially fired as the United States Secretary of Homeland Security on Thursday – which means that she’ll be forced to retreat from the spotlight and put her gold Rolex watch into a moving box back to South Dakota. 

After two days of grilling before the Senate and House Judiciary Committees on Tuesday and Wednesday, President Donald Trump finally pulled the plug on her highly-contentious appointment.

She was confronted by Republicans over issues repeatedly highlighted in the Daily Mail’s exclusive reporting: the deadly immigration crackdown, lavish spending, and her alleged affair with aide Corey Lewandowski. 

Noem will be replaced by Senator Markwayne Mullin at the end of the month, and is set to shift to Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas – a new Western Hemisphere security initiative to be unveiled Saturday in Doral, Florida.

In a statement to X (formerly Twitter) following her firing, Noem thanked the President and claimed that under her leadership, she delivered the ‘most secure border in American history.’

But during her time as Secretary of Homeland Security, Noem, 54, appeared to get whisked into the glitz and glamour of it all, something that was especially highlighted by her choices of ensemble and so-called ‘MAGA makeover.’

Her long extensions and designer clothing were a far cry from her previous outfits as a member of The House of Reps, and even Governor, when she would wear flannel shirts and rocked a short, feathered hairdo. 

The Daily Mail is now looking back on some of Noem’s worst fashion fails during her time in The White House and beyond, as she prepares to leave her post.

Backlash for sporting glam makeup on New York City raid… while donning a bulletproof vest

Noem made a splash in January 2025 when she glammed up for a raid on ‘dirtbags’ in New York City.

Noem posted a video on X as she joined ICE to oust immigrants off the streets of the Big Apple as part of Trump’s mass deportation plan.

‘Dirtbags like this will continue to be removed from our streets,’ said Noem, while sporting long flowing hair under her law enforcement cap. 

She donned a bulletproof vest for the clash but it did not go unnoticed that she had also undergone a full face of glam and styled her hair. 

The look earned her the nicknames ‘ICE Barbie’ and ‘American Badass.’

When she cosplayed as a nurse to advertise jobs in South Dakota 

In 2023, Noem starred in a commercial advertising 20,000 open jobs that were in South Dakota – all while pretending to be a nurse dressed in blue scrubs.

In the commercial, she was seen wheeling a patient through hospital doors, yelling, ‘Let’s get some help in here, STAT!’

Of course, to go with her scrubs, Noem was in full-glam, her face covered in makeup and her hair tied in a curled high ponytail.

To top it all off, she wore the scrubs with a huge pair of pearl earrings.

‘We work hard, but we don’t pay any state income tax,’ Noem explained in the video, as her ‘patient’ just lay in the hospital bed.

‘So you get to keep more of your own money. That should get your heart racing!’ she said.

She appeared to dress up as a prison warden during a visit to the Louisiana State Penitentiary

In September 2025, Noem appeared to have veered into a whole new role as a prison warden.

She and Pam Bondi visited the Louisiana State Penitentiary to promote a new detention facility called the Louisiana Lockup.

But many were distracted by Noem’s choice of outfit as she attempted to embody a ‘hot cop’ persona.

For the visit, she wore a blue collared shirt emblazoned with a large Homeland Security logo along with a seemingly oversized trucker hat with similar ICE markings.

Despite trying to balance out the look with a pair of casual denim jeans, many thought the ensemble missed the mark. 

Noem pretended to be a firefighter while on site in Alaska

Noem also added ‘firefighter’ to her resume last March, when she participated in a firefighting drill during a tour of a U.S. Coast Guard Air Station in Kodiak, Alaska.

She wore full firefighting gear, and even got a hold of the hose. She even sported an official firefighting hat and knee pads. 

Of course, her face was fully made up as she participated in the drill alongside the actual firefighters. 

That same day, she also snapped a video of herself flying a C-130 out of the U.S. Coast Guard base. 

To fly the helicopter, she wore a leather bomber jacket, of course, along with casual blue denim jeans.  

Her DHS border patrol outfit while appearing on Fox News

Last year, Noem appeared on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle while dressed in a border patrol outfit.

She was clad in an olive-colored, military-style jacket with the gold DHS logo emblazoned on it, as well as a matching baseball cap.

Her hat read, ‘US Border Patrol,’ on it, in a circular patch.

But of course, she couldn’t just wear the ‘uniform’ alone. She paired the look with dangling pearl earrings, as well as a full face of makeup and light pink glossy lip.

Her casual ‘fit and $50,000 Rolex to visit CECOT in El Salvador 

Last March, Noem paid a visit to the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) in El Salvador, all while wearing a huge gold Rolex watch that cost $50,000.

Specifically, she sported the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, which sat on her left wrist along with the massive diamond wedding ring on her finger.

But she attempted to dress down the watch by pairing it with a white long-sleeved t-shirt, casual dark-colored pants with large pockets, and, of course, a blue baseball cap emblazoned with America’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement logo.

Noem drew tons of backlash for wearing the watch to the prison center, as viewers responded to the outrageous video she made while she stood in front of those behind bars.

However, whatever fallout occurred from the watch didn’t seem to deter her, as it’s a piece she continued to sport throughout her time at the White House – including during her embarrassing hearing this week.

She dressed up as a dental hygienist and an electrician in one ad

When she was still the Governor of South Dakota, Noem starred in an advertisement that saw her dressed up in costume as an electrician and a dental hygienist, as she encouraged people to move to the state for work.

In the ad, she said that she had even been ‘lending a hand,’ as she posed in blue scrubs by the side of a ‘patient,’ surrounded by dental tools.

She also dressed up as an electrician, as she got under a sink to ‘fix’ someone’s pipes.

Both times, she was made up in full glam and curled hair.  

In the ad, she joked that she ‘wasn’t very good’ at these jobs.

‘Thankfully, thousands of freedom-loving Americans responded, and are moving here to pitch in, but there’s always room for more, so come work in South Dakota, the free-est state in America,’ she said in the ad.

‘Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got my real job to do,’ she said at the end, dressed in a royal blue power suit. 

When she wore a MAGA hat with gold thread and ballet flats to see Alligator Alcatraz

In July, Noem showed up to the South Florida Detention Facility, also known as Alligator Alcatraz, alongside lawmakers and the President himself all while wearing a pair of tan leather ballet flats with a pearl on the toe.

She also spiced up her outfit with a large white ‘MAGA’ hat emblazoned with the slogan in gold letters.

The former Secretary paired the dressy flats with a sleeveless, white button-down vest and skinny-leg navy pants.

Noem also opted for huge hoop earrings to boot, plus a fresh French manicure.

Her Rolex also made another appearance that day, as they toured the grim facility deep in the Florida Everglades.  

She brought her ‘ICE Barbie’ nickname to life while attending a February 2025 Governor’s Dinner 

In February 2025, Noem brought her ‘ICE Barbie’ nickname to the forefront when she attended that year’s Governor’s Dinner at the White House in a puffy-sleeved, full-bodied, hot pink gown.

She sported the $895 satin color-block belted gown from designer Sachin & Babi, pairing it with her classic hoop earrings.

Noem attended the dinner with husband Bryon Noem, even though it’s been alleged that she has been having an affair with trusted advisor Corey Lewandowski.

Noem on Wednesday refused to deny under oath that she had sex with Lewandowski when questioned by Democratic Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove.

‘At any time during your tenure as director of Department of Homeland Security, have you had sexual relations with Corey Lewandowski?’ asked Kamlager-Dove.

Noem responded by stating she would not respond to ‘tabloid garbage’ and called the accusations ‘offensive.’

‘You should be able to answer if someone asks if you or any federal official is sleeping with their subordinate,’ the Democrat added.

Her Western-style outfit she wore in her controversial $220 million ad campaign

Noem really committed to her $220 million ad campaign as she donned a Western-theme outfit while dramatically gallivanting on a horse around Mount Rushmore in a televised ad last year.

The ad saw her wearing a huge, tan-colored cowboy hat, a Western-style denim shirt with embroidery on it, and blue jeans with an over-the-top fringed hem. 

She topped off the look with a huge, Western-style, gold buckle belt, to really drive her message home.

Interestingly enough, the controversial ad was what seemingly got her into trouble during this week’s hearing.

She said under oath that the President had signed off on her spending a staggering $220 million of taxpayer money on a border security advertising campaign, which he denied.

‘I never knew anything about it,’ Trump lamented on Thursday.

Noem’s black dress and cowboy-boot look for the Lainey Wilson concert in Sioux Falls 

In November 2024, just before she was appointed to become a member of Trump’s cabinet, she attended country singer Lainey Wilson’s Sioux Falls, South Dakota concert while wearing a silky black dress and tan cowboy boots.

The short-sleeved dress hit her just below the knees, and she completed the look with a large cowboy hat – a different one than she wore in her $220 million ad, though.

On Instagram, she praised the singer for her amazing performance and posted snaps from behind-the-scenes with the star.

‘Lainey Wilson played a fantastic concert in Sioux Falls last night, and I got to meet her!’ Noem wrote in the caption. ‘She’s sweet as can be, and her concert was just as amazing.’
