Liverpool vs Leeds live: Team news and line-ups from Premier League clash

Joe Rodon is definitely out of today’s clash with Liverpool as confirmed by Leeds head coach Daniel Farke.

He said: “Yes, he will definitely miss the Liverpool game. The diagnosis is better than we were fearing straight after the game because it didn’t look really good.

“But the assessment is it is an ankle ligament injury and normally, yeah, you will be out with such an injury for around three weeks.

“We still have a bit of hope because normally he is a good healer and also a strong boy. So perhaps there is a chance to involve him even before.

“But at the moment, I would say it is realistic that he will miss the games, including also the FA Cup game.

“And then hopefully on the other side of the FA Cup game, we have him then pretty soon back available for the games.”

Liverpool’s set-piece coach Aaron Briggs has left the club as he has paid the price for their disastrous record at defending free kicks and corners.

The Premier League champions have conceded the most goals in the division – 12 – from set-pieces, including two in their last two games.

Liverpool have only scored three goals from dead-ball situations, meanwhile, leading head coach Arne Slot to regularly bemoan their “negative set-piece balance”.

Leeds will be without defender Joe Rodon, midfielder Sean Longstaff and attacker Daniel James, who all have injuries set to keep them out until mid-January at the earliest.

Daniel Farke otherwise has a full squad to select from.

Cody Gakpo returned off the bench in the win against Wolves and will be pushing to start, potentially ahead of Federico Chiesa, while Dominik Szoboszlai will be available again, having missed the Wolves clash through suspension.

Mohamed Salah remains away on Afcon duty with Egypt, while this match could come too soon for Wataru Endo and Joe Gomez.

Alexander Isak is a long-term absentee.
