Love Island USA‘s Cierra Ortega has officially been dropped from the villa after fans called for her eviction over alleged social media posts in which she was caught using a racial slur.
In case you’re not chronically online or addicted to reality TV, Love Island USA has been embroiled in controversy after Cierra, one of its 2025 contestants, was called out for allegedly using a racial slur in resurfaced social media posts.
After the posts went viral across the internet, fans called for the 25-year-old content creator to be axed from the reality TV clusterfuck.
Following days upon days of scathing comments and brutal TikToks, Cierra was finally axed from the villa.
“Cierra has left the villa due to a personal situation, leaving Nic [Vansteenberghe] officially single,” Love Island USA narrator Iain Stirling announced at the start of episode 30.
Following Cierra’s eviction, her parents took to her social media accounts, seeking empathy and compassion from viewers.
“As Cierra’s parents, this has been one of the most painful weeks of our lives,” the statement began.
“We’ve seen the post, the headlines, the hurt and the hate. And while Cierra hasn’t seen any of it yet, we have. And so have the people who love her.
“We’re not here to justify or ignore what’s surfaced. We understand why people are upset, and we know accountability matters. But what’s happening online right now has gone far beyond that.
“The threats. The cruel messages. The attacks on her family, her friends, even her supporters, it’s heartbreaking. It’s uncalled for. And no one deserves that kind of hate, no matter what mistake they’ve made.”
Further in the statement, the family reiterated that Cierra has yet to see what’s happening online, but believes that once she officially returns, she will tackle the controversy with “honesty, growth and grace”.
“While she’ll always be our little girl, she’s also a woman, one who will take responsibility in her own time and her own voice,” she continued.
“Until then, we’re simply asking for compassion. For patience. For basic human decency. Not just for her, but for everyone caught in the middle of this.”

Why was Cierra Ortega kicked out of the Love Island USA villa?
While the show said it was “due to a personal reason”, it’s speculated that Cierra’s eviction comes as a result of public outrage from the fans.
You see, old social media posts that from Cierra resurfaced in the last week, in which the contestant allegedly used the word “chinky” — a racial slur used against the Asian community.
Both social media posts were made before her appearance on the show, with one of them dating back to 2015.

Viewers demanded for Cierra to be taken off the show, citing that fellow 2025 contestant Yulissa Escobar was kicked off in episode two after a video of her saying the n-word went viral.
In Yulissa’s eviction, it wasn’t revealed why she left. Not even stating it was because of “personal reasons”. In a recent TikTok, Yulissa confirmed her axing was because of the viral video and apologised for using the word.
“I was like, ‘fuck no. I can’t believe people think I’m racist’. I mean, I get it, I said a word that I should not have said,” Yulissa said.
“I wish I would have never said that. It is what it is. I can’t go back in time. I am sorry that I said that word.”
Following Cierra’s abrupt eviction from the show, fans are thanking producers for taking action. However, one fan urged for more “intense background checks” on incoming islanders.
“Please for the sake of next season yall really need to do an intense background check on the islanders. And please stop doing the most and stick to the original premise of the show,” the fan wrote.
At the time of writing, neither Love Island USA nor Cierra herself have released a statement on the controversy surrounding her eviction.
